POR vs Dolphin Christmas Week
We have a family of 5 and are currently booked at the Dolphin Family Rooms under a great AAA rate. But I'm starting to second guess our decision. We are actually driving this year, so we will have access to a vehicle.
What we love about the Dolphin (stayed at Swan before) is the location and the extra space of the Family rooms. We are parkhopper people, so love using the boats to Epcot and HS, or love being able to walk to Epcot. Our biggest concern is about ADRs. Dining at some of the popular restaurants is an important part of our trip and the Dolphin does not qualify for 180+10. So in turn we are thinking of moving to the POR. The benefit being we get 180+10 but the downside being we will get a much smaller room. We're not dining plan people, so that piece is irrelevant. We stayed at the Swan in 2008 over Christmas week and had no problems getting our ADRs. But the dining plans have become so popular since then, that I am concerned. So now I'm trying to decide between Dolphin Family Rooms or the POR preferred rooms. Cost is about the same. Would appreciate any thoughts as my wife says I'm driving her nuts

Christmas week, I stay at the Dolphin. You have great access to 2 parks -Epcot and DHS. You can either walk or take the boats. Since it will be a busy week, the Disney buses that you can use more than likely won't go to all 4 Epcot area resorts. They usually split them up to 2 AND 2.
We've stayed in the Family rooms before and loved the extra space. Also, there are many restaurants at different price points at the Dolphin which is nice. |
