Tell me about watching Wishes from CR!

I have never visited the Contemporary - except to drive through it many years ago on the monorail. What do I need to know to guide my little group there to watch Wishes on our first night in the World???

We'll be spending our arrival day exploring our resort (POR) and eating at Downtown Disney. IF we are up for watching some fireworks, I know we can take the CR bus from DD. But once we arrive at CR, where do we go??

At the Contemporary, there is viewing on an outdoor
observation area on the 4th floor. (Northwest corner, outside door.)
The California Grill observation areas are reserved for patrons that day of the Grill or Bar.

(Fireworks shown above are simulated.)

Not to hijack OP's thread, but has anyone visited both areas?
Is the CG Observation Area much better than the 4th flr?
Do they pipe in the music in both areas?

Thanks!

On the 4th floor, as you can see from Robo's photo, the monorail track runs overhead. They have a couple rows of seats but they do get filled quickly in my experience. The CG deck is nice because it is large and you can usually get a good view. Yes, they pipe the music in to both areas.

Ohh Good Question!! Although I didn't think about using the CG observation deck since I wouldn't be eating there and would feel funny about cutting thru the restaurant if I wasn't eating there.

I didn't realize there were seats and piped in music on the 4th floor area though!!! Good to know!!
