5 nt Wonder formal/semi formal? What do you wear? Pics welcome

We are sailing in April and looking forward to a night to get out looking special. I read about Formal, Semi formal and optional dress up. So which can I expect aboard our cruise?
What do you wear?
I have a cute red cocktail dress I hope to wear that I got for a special night at Olives in LV but havent had another chance to wear it. My boys have nice dress clothes(blk pants, vest and tie, red button downs.) Would we be over dressed on this trip?

I believe on the 5 night cruises it's a semi-formal night. And I think it's night 2.

For semi-formal, I generally wear my cocktail dress with a wrap, and DH wears either dress shirt & tie, or dress shirt & jacket.

Sometimes I've worn black dress slacks (or black midlength skirt) with a sparkley top.

For formal/semi-formal nights you're going to see pretty much the gamut from ball gowns & tuxes to shorts and t-shirts. Yes, there is a suggested dress code, but many people just wear what's comfortable for them.

I've never heard of a formal night on anything shorter than 7 nights. Sorry, but I've never done a 5 night to address that specifically.

I saw a Navigator from the 1/14 Wonder cruise that said night 2 was Optional Dress Up.

5n only have one semi formal night. Many do dress up a bit but mostly cocktail dress and shirt & tie.

You see more of a difference on long cruises where they have a semi and a formal.

I've seen men on jeans and flip flops on semi formal nights... Something I don't understand...

Thanks, I wonder if I should switch to a more casual dress? I have some nicer summery dresses and a long maxidress that I love. Hmmm

I say go for it. Your red dress sounds great. I know some people do not like getting dressed up, but, you have the dress so no extra cost there, and you will get some very nice familly shots. I love getting dressed up on our Disney cruises - even if there are otheres there that are not.

My DH and I will be doing a 4 night in November to celebrate our 5th anniversary - and even though it is only a 4 night - we are planning on getting dressed up. There will be 8 of our friends joining us and we will be celebrating 2 of their birthdays. Lots of reasons to get some great photos.

iloverags2 - thanks for posting photos - love getting dressed up.

Linda

I had fun dressing up our family on our first DCL cruise. I agree with PPs that it is a fun way to get great family photos! DH complained a little about having to be 'dressed up' EVERY night, so this time around I'm going a lil more casual on the cruise casual nights.

It was only a 4 night cruise, so it was optional dress up but we treated it as a semi semi-formal. (no jackets)

I wore cocktail dresses the other nights and DH wore a button down shirt each night. Some times with a tie, sometimes not. DD wore a dress ever night too, but she didn't have much to say about it.
