New Years Eve on the Dream

We've booked a stateroom on the Dream over New Years Eve this year. We were just wondering if Disney might do anything "special" to bring in the New Year? Things like longer/later fireworks, a "real' Midnight buffet etc. TIA

It's my understanding that they do have fireworks on NYE. However, it's instead of, not in addition to Pirate night fireworks. Something about the ships only being able to have X amount of pyrotechnics onboard.

We were on the Wonder in 2001 to 2002 NYE. This was way before the did fireworks on the Disney ships. They had special parties in different sections of the ship. They also gave us a very nice limited edition lito for NYE and a special NYE menu. We had the Captain sign the menu and framed it and it still hangs on our wall in our living room.

Loads of fun for NYE. President Carter and his whole family of around 22 sailed with us so that was fun also. We would bump into them all over the ship and President Carter gave a special book reading and book signing one afternoon.

Have a great time.

Linda

We were onboard this past NYE. It was fantastic! NYE was formal night and there was a special menu in the dining rooms. There was a deck party from 9-12. Everyone got party hats and noisemakers, and they passed around champagne (sparkling cider for the kids) in commemorative (plastic) glasses right before midnight. Fireworks at midnight were great. When we returned to our stateroom we had a commemorative print and chocolates waiting for us.

We really enjoyed the NYE cruise (not that we had any other DCL cruises to compare it to) and have rebooked for next year!

I'm thinking about booking for a NYE cruise when I book onboard in May. I am hoping that they are not sold out when I do. I think it would be an awesome way to bring in the New Year
