Test Track or Soarin' - which first? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We have not ridden the new Test Track, and know that both TT and Soarin' fill up fast and fastpasses go quickly. What is your best advice on which to ride first and which to get fast pass for?

I thought Test Track first, get a FP, ride it and then use the FP to ride again. Then head over to Soarin' and pick up a FP for later. We have ridden Soarin' many times and it isn't as necessary for us to ride it more than once. Or should I run get FP for Soarin' while the family goes to TT and waits for me outside the line?

In my opinion the 1-2 order of these does not matter. I would get a FP for one, then trek across and ride standby on the other. I would not wait for that FP to mature (minimum 40 minutes) before hopping in standby for the other.

This may depend on the crowds when you're there.

I was at Epcot the Friday of marathon weekend. We didn't arrive at the park until about 1ish. We chose to grab an FP for Test Track, then got lunch. By the time we finished lunch in World Showcase, we were eligible to pick up an FP for Soarin' (still available) then head over to use our TT FP. Crowds were light, so FPs were still available late in the afternoon. At 45-75 minutes, the standby waits were well beyond my personal waiting-in-line threshold.

But if you arrived first thing in the morning, I'd agree with mesaboy's opinion.

I would FP Soarin and ride TT standby. If the line is too long, you can go with the single rider line (I think it is still there) and reduce any wait time.

I thought you couldn't have 2 FP out at once? Has this changed??

We always go to Soarin first since its the first one you come to. Then we go straight to Test track. Since we do them both first thing in the morning we just ride standby.

A common misconception. Depending on when FP return times are relative to the time you pull an FP, it is absolutely possible to have more than one valid FP at a time. This has been true as long as I can remember.

Both Soarin' and Test Track are equidistant from the main FW entrance. Soarin' is closer to the IG entrance.

so how does that work? is there a certain amount of time in between to have 2 out?

Most attractions at WDW, and all at Epcot specifically, have a maximum 2-hour lockout between getting FPs.

If you pull a FP for Soarin at 11:00a, for example, the return time for it could easily be 5:00p-6:00p. In a case like this, you could get a second FP at 1:00p (2 hours after the first) for another attraction. At 1:00p then, you have two valid FPs in your hand.

If the return window for the FP is less than 2 hours away, then you can get another FP at the beginning of that first FP's return window.

No worries. The bottom line is that you never need wait more than 2 hours between FPs. The time you are eligible for another FP is printed in the bottom center of your current FP.

learn something new everyday, I've used FP but never realized that, will most definately remember for this upcoming trip, thanks again!

To further clarify, notice the FP below.

This was pulled at 9:47a (extreme lower right in small font). It says another can be gotten at 11:45a (bottom center), which is two hours later. Yet the current FP is also good from 2:05p-3:05p. At 11:45a, you can get a FP for another attraction such as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and then you have two. Make sense?

Unless somehow FP+ messes it up between now and the time you arrive. That's for another dozen active threads to discuss.
