Hope it will not be too hot as we hope to walk the 5 km and we definitely are not used to high humidity or hot temps!
Beginning to pack now.
Flying out on Sunday. Getting excited!

Well, I will even grant you it MAY have been uglier than mine, initially. BUT, now that I have gone ahead and put some small decorations on mine (noooo! She did it! She did it!), I know for a fact that mine is uglier.

I tried to find some more info on the internet, and it seems that it may well be Germany's fault ... Apparently, our customs is really strict and checks everything very thoroughly, and erratically delays shippings for weeks sometimes - to the point where many sellers have stopped shipping to Germany. Wish I had known that before

Sounds wonderful!! Count us among the people who are a bit afraid of hot weather ... Anything above 80 takes some getting used to for us Northerners, and at about 86 I will actually start feeling faint.
But we know (sort of ) what we are getting ourselves into and are determined to take things really slow, stay out of the sun at all times, drink lots of water and have a wonderful time no matter how hot it gets!

We're trying to book a car from Port of LA To our airport on the last day. What time should book it for? We're second seating breakfast, but not sure how long that takes and how long customs takes.

Customs and such can take upwards of a hour possibly more. Depending on your rotation breakfast is at 8:15 or 8:30. It's a very fast, rushed breakfast.

I'm planning on doing the 5k too...my first attempt! Been training with Jeff Galloway's 5k program and can run/walk it at a 14 min pace. Atlanta is very hilly so I'm hoping the effort on the hills in ATL will compensate for the Bahamas heat....

Scheduled time for Panama Canal transit

Does anyone know the schedule for our transit thru the canal? Also, are there other webcams besides those on the 'pancanal' site?

We will probably start heading for the Gatun Locks about 6-7 in the morning. Probably passing under the bridge of the Americas around 4ish. I do not know of any other webcams.

This was the schedule for the last East Bound. Obviously we are going in reverse direction but the start and end time should be close...

Passing Bridge of Americas: 6:30 AM
Approach Miraflores Locks: 7:30 AM
Depart Miraflores Locks: 8:15 AM
Approach Pedro Miguel Locks: 9:00 AM
Depart Pedro Miguel Locks: 9:25 AM
Approach Gatun Locks: 2:15 PM
Depart Locks: 4:15 PM
Depart Cristobal Harbor: 5:30 PM

By extrapolation, this should be our approximate schedule...

Arrive Cristobal Harbor: 6:00 AM
Approach Gatun Locks: 7:30 AM
Depart Gatun Locks: 9:30 AM
Approach Pedro Miguel Locks: 2:20 PM
Depart Pedro Miguel Locks: 2:45 PM
Approach Miraflores Locks: 3:30 PM
Depart Miraflores Locks: 4:15 PM
Passing Bridge of Americas: 5:15 PM

This could be off by 15 to 30 minutes but should be pretty close, but, of course, as the EB Navigator stated, subject to change depending on traffic and weather.

This was the best cam site I could find, has links to many other cams...

I guess it might be hot and humid for you but shouldn't be too bad - 80's. I am in SW FL and we are being hit by a large storm system that is headed East to the Bahamas. I have my fingers crossed that it moves fast enough that it will pass through Miami and Castaway Cay before Monday. According to the weather channel it looks promising that it will gone by Sunday.

The good news for you is that I think this storm is cooling things down a bit (to low 80's) but no doubt it will be humid.

You won't believe what arrived in the mail today, on the 2nd last day it could arrive to come to Miami with me, and after it has travelled for weeks and weeks across the Atlantic ... MY FISH EXTENDER! Yeah!!!

(Although I must say I'm almost sorry to have it, since the ugly makeshift one got me several offers of prettifying it, plus the "whose FE is the ugliest" contest ... can mine still be the honorary ugliest now? )

The CC5K should be fun and as it is early in the morning after docking, it should be as cool as it is going to be that day. I started with the Couch to 5k app last year and now I'm training for a half-marathon. I think everyone who wants to should do the Castaway Cay 5k. Runners, joggers, run/walkers, and walkers. I am in the jogger category and average 11 min/miles. I would hardly call that running. When I use to do 10K races, race-walkers would pass me near the end of the run (that's how slow my jogging was) .

Who else is joining us on the CC5k?

Two more work days left before vacation. Leaving Friday after work.

Well done you - glad you're able to bring the original! We'll call it a tie
