International Beer Tasting

For those who have done these, what did they serve?

Note: On newer navigators I am seeing a specific "International" beer tasting as well as a regular one.

That is good to hear they are offering an international one now.

I too am curious as to what is being offered during it.

I did the beer tasting back in October on the Fantasy and it was pretty underwhelming to be honest!

The beer tastings are incredibly lame. They are limited to the beers available for purchase on board and nothing they have for sale is worth a special trip for a tasting, IMO.

While I very much realize this is probably the case, I am still curious as to what this tasting entails. Someone may really enjoy ____ beer and will be happy to know that it is being served.

Now, if we could find someone who knows!

I did a beer tasting on the Magic a few weeks ago, it was just labelled "Beer Tasting" but he did all non-US beers.

Nothing craft or anything like that. We had 6:

Boddingtons
Red Stripe
New Castle
Sappora
Guiness
Stella Artois

Nothing was new to me, I'd had all of them numerous times before. It was still fun though, listening to the talk I did learn some things I didn't know already, and I met some cool people.

If someone could predict with absolute certainty what international beers will be served on some future cruise then you would know. Recognizing that the beer selection does change from time to time (not dramatically) the exact beers aren't really going to be known. Heineken, Corona and Amstel Light are "international" beers and if they are serving them on board you could very well see them at a tasting (international or otherwise).

I seem to recall a poster who indicated that one of their selections on a regular beer tasting was Bud Light; presumably representing the American light adjunct lager style.

Sorry, I was wrong about that. The tasting actually featured both Miller Lite and Coors Light.

haha yep that was me who mentioned it in that thread.

As I mentioned in there, I was pretty unimpressed with the fact they were giving us Miller Lite, Coors Light, Blue Moon and Fosters as part of a "beer tasting"!

Maybe I am just too much of a beer snob... but I guess if you are doing it just to get the beers to drink it is a good value? I don't even know about that though as it was something like $20 for the tasting.

Thank you. This was very helpful!

I do like Sapporo on tap. I hope they have that somewhere on the wonder.

And this is why we stuck to tequila, martini and mixology tastings; all of which were fabulous! We freely admit to being spoiled beer snobs. Life is too short to drink crappy beer.

And I do understand that "crappy beer" is completely subjective and there are plenty of people that like the above. New Castle is our readily available choice, but I wouldn't go to a tasting of it.

Just to be clear, I believe the only one of those they had on tap anywhere on the ship was Stella. The rest were all poured from bottles.

On the Magic 2 weeks ago we actually had 4 wine tastings:

Around the world
Old World
Texas wines
New World

Texas wines was a plan B, it wasn't originally scheduled but was added because our stop in Costa Maya was cancelled.

I would say it's probably not worth it just for the beer. I want to say it was $15 for six 8 oz glasses (48 oz). If you have the beer mug, you can do as good or better. With the beer mug you're limited to what's on tap though.
