Big thunder ranch BBQ

Ok, I have a few questions about the Big thunder ranch BBQ!

First, do you like it, love it, hate it, and why? (I keep reading mixed reviews)

Also, is everything on the menu smothered in BBQ? Or could you ask for something without BBQ? We have a member of our family who despises BBQ, but the rest of us LOVE BBQ!!

I appreciate any input

We love it. All of the meat has BBQ sauce as I recall. I would have to think your family member is not alone in dislike of BBQ sauce and they can accomodate you. Of course all the veggies and bread rolls do not have sauce. The baked beans are baked beans.

We really

Enjoyed the experience and the food, I don't think the sausage had BBQ sauce, someone correct me if I am wrong, I would also I would imagine that the BBQ vegetarian skewers would not but again not certain. Corn on the cob was good too.

My dd 13 is not a BBQ girl, so she came in with us and did not eat. They told us she would be welcome to bring in outside food, and we were not billed for her.

The entertainment was fun and we left well sated, we will return.

This is my must eat place everytime we are there as it is soooo good! My wife is vegetarian so the skewers do have BBQ. However you can ask for those without- the first time we went she wasn't sure she would like the sauce so asked for it on the side and they complied. Everytime we've gone since they bring it on the Side I think so that might be standard. I'm not sure if they still have it but the coleslaw had a tiny kick to it. The sausage didn't have sauce on it.

But seriously it is SO good.

It's the only must eat place in the parks for us. We love it and plan our meals for the day so that we are real hungry and can get our money's worth when we go ( usually don't plan our meals at all, just decide to eat when we are hungry). All the meats have BBQ in them but the sausage only gets a little from touching the other meats in the bucket. The resteraunt seems to be very accommodating so I think if you tell your server what you want they will do what they can to accommodate. And like others have said there is no BBQ sauce in the other parts of the meal just the meat.

Also, to be clear, there is not really a "menu". It's just one price for the BBQ dinner and then all the stuff comes. The exceptions are for vegetarian and there are some dessert choices that cost extra.

For us, it's the best place in the park.

Note that at lunch the prices are cheaper but you don't get the sausage or the corn wheels. Also note that drinks and desserts are not included in the price of the meal.
BBQ sauce is on all the meats except the sausage, however it isn't drenched in BBQ sauce at all, in fact DBF and I always ask for extra sauce on the side. The cornbread is sweet and usually served cold, the beans are good, the cole slaw is so good I make it at home now. lol They will bring you refills on all food items when you ask and it is very good. This is one of our favorite places to eat. We usually go for lunch or an early dinner so we can be hungry when we go and eat a lot. lol It really is worth it for us.

Should you book this one before you come, if coming at the end of April?

My family really likes the Big Thunder BBQ. We went last time we were at DLR in December. The food was really good. In December, the outdoors seating area was really cold!

As others have said, the food isn't dripping with BBQ sauce, but it does have a fair amount. I would talk with the server about the options. As others have mentioned, the corn bread (yum), baked beans, and slaw do not have BBQ sauce (I went at lunch, so no sausages or corn wheels). The ribs were fall of the bone tender and so good!

We are planning on eating here in June, this will be our first time and we are very excited about it. I have seen pictures of the food and everything looks so delicious. My kids like BBQ but are not in love with it like DH and I....I like the idea of getting extra on the side, especially for DH and I . Also, thank you to the PP that mentioned that at lunch there is no corn wheels, that was the deciding factor between lunch or dinner (regardless of the price), my family loves corn and cannot have BBQ without it....I know it sounds crazy .

If you want to be sure your group can eat at your desired time, definitely.

It's true that the lunch is cheaper- however I just called yesterday to make last minute reservations for my February trip and was told that drinks are now included in the price.

Your food should not cold, except the corn bread and cole slaw it should be warm. If I got cold food I would ask for hot, that said it isn't steaming hot, just warm enough that you can dig right in when you get your bowls and such.

Me too!! And they make a really good Arnold Palmer as well. Good to know about drinks being included, when we went in August we had to pay for them separately.

I am one who always says to book your meals, especially if you know for sure you want to eat there. That said, we've been able to walk up to the BBQ and get seated, the longest we've had to wait was about 30-40 minutes and that was at lunch time. lol
