Folks,

My suggestion is to let Seiler go through his Fort visit. There's not a whole lot more we can add to help at this point. He'll hopefully let us know what happens on his visit.

Thanks, Bama ED

I am sitting in my RV at Fort Wilderness, I arrived last night at 8 pm. Fortunately bama ed is wrong. The old rate was LOCKED IN and that is what I paid. The Mouse did not get his.

And the CM told me that it is true, if I leave early they will give me a full refund on any unused days. The CM told me "We want our guests to leave happy".

Uh, no. Fail.

It went down exactly as I said it would.

In post #1 you said you made your ressie 2 months prior. That would have been about Nov-12 when you made it.

In my initial reply I said rates are set late summer/early fall for the coming year. Those become the "going rates" for that year.

So November 2012 is ....<wait for it>..... reliably after "late summer/early fall" of 2012.

Which means....

You were quoted 2013 rates in your reservation.

You paid 2013 rates when you checked in.

Which goes with what I said.

I wrote my reply in a general sense to help others who DON'T make their reservation so close to their visit. To illustrate:

Ed wants visit the Fort in Feb 2013. <TODAY> is Nov 2011 (almost at the 499 limit).

At that point (remember late summer/early fall?) the 2012 rates have been set but those for the following year (2013) AFTER THAT have not yet. So when I make my ressie I will be given a 2012 rate and pay one night's deposit. But once rates are set in late summer/early fall 2012 for 2013, my one night's deposit amount will be credited against the total amount due based on 2013 rates for those dates.

For folks making plans well in advance or close to the new calendar year, this is how it goes. So when making the ressie in this situation, ask if the rates for the coming year have been set yet or not.

How else can we help you?

Bama ED

PS - Have a nice visit.

No it did not go down as you said. I was quoted the 2012 rates when I made my reservation, $67 per night. That is what I paid. The 2013 rate is $72. That is the whole reason for the thread in the first place. I was quoted $67 but then when I looked at the campground rates a few weeks ago I noticed that the rates had gone up. So I was wondering if I would pay the rate I was quoted or the new rate.

You're confused because you are overlooking one thing.

The 2013 rates as posted on-line includes applicable taxes (occupational, sales, hotel lodging, goodness only knows what's piled onto that).

You see:

Like you, I have a 2013 visit planned to the Fort.

Like you, I made my reservation in November 2012.

Like you, I can see Disney's on-line rate calendar for 2013.

Unlike you, I still have my reservation email with the daily rates for each night listed in the ressie.

The daily rates are listed separately for each night and are totalled at the end.

Then the total taxes are applied in a single line item to get a grand total.

The daily rates as shown in my email are lower that what's shown on the on-line rate calendar by several dollar for the same days because the daily rates in my email are stated WITHOUT TAX (which is added later) while the on-line rates are stated WITH TAX as indicated on the pricing calendar.

I can tell you the details about the deposit if you want to know.

Bama ED

Ed, you are never going to convince this guy of anything. He doesn't want to be educated. He just wants to be right. It is amazing how worked up he got, and refused the best piece of advice he was given ... make a simple phone call. He could have saved everyone, and himself, allot of aggravation if he would have just picked up the phone and called Disney. You just can't save some people from themselves.

Sorry Ed you are wrong. The rates online quoted online were $67 without taxes. I paid $74 deposit, which is one night plus tax. The new rates were posted in January, $72 per night without taxes. No matter how you spin it you are wrong.

Are you always this rude? I never got worked up at all, where did you get that idea? I simply asked a question. I really don't care which rate they were going to charge me. If they would have charged me the new rate I would have changed my stay here to from 14 days to 7 days and gone to Universal the last 7 days instead. You really need to learn some manners. And you need to learn how to read. I already explained why I did not pick up the phone. And I thought people here were knowledgeable and polite. Instead some people are rude and some people are spin doctors.
