They last between a week to 12 days.... So after they were all on, I just had to replace the ones that feel off, most of them I knew when they fell, but others I had to replace from the pack, so overall it was fun to have them.

I bet I heard over a dozen times, that my eyes were beautiful, David was just smiling.

So I would do it again,

Feb 25, 2013

We called a cab to pick us up around 11:00, he showed up a few minutes early, and we headed to the port in Baltimore.

Marylou had called us early to make sure we were up and that we had made her reservation on Viking. She also, told us that we were meeting up in the Park Cafe on deck 9 in the Solarium with others from the cruise critic boards.

Once you are in the port, you drive up to the drop off area, and unload the bags, onto these huge luggage trams, we had our luggage tags taped and stapled together, since they have been torn off in the past, ughh, not having luggage is no fun at all.

We got on the ship around 11:45 they would not let us take pictures or use our cell phones, so I have images from the process getting on board the ship.

I can tell you that we stood in line for about 15 minutes, and then went through the metal detectors, and our bags were screened, this is the first cruise I have been on since Royal Caribbean started letting you bring two bottles of wine per cabin. We had followed the rules and placed them in our carryon luggage. We went through without problems, and then got in another line based on your status or cabin type, we were maybe 5th in this line. I think it took us another 15 minutes from this point. We signed our paperwork, told them that we were not sick, and got our cabin keys. After walking out through the throng of people still waiting, we made it to the area where they take your picture and tie it to your cabin key. Hats and sunglasses off please. Then we walk up the gang way to the ship, and this is where they use our sea pass card to officially log us onto the ship! Welcome aboard. We board on deck 4, and we are headed straight for Marylou and Jim on Deck 9.

We had a really nice salad and sandwich there, and hung out until around 1330 when the cabins were made available. We came down and looked into our cabin; we both think it was nicer, bigger than last year.

Cabin 3061 has our name on it& Here we come.

We had two of our three bags here at the cabin. David unloaded the bags, while I entertaining self, with the ladies in the cabins across from us. Trish and Karen are in 3060 and Judy and Loretta are in 3062.

This is Judy and Loretta,

We had fun just talking and cutting up.

Then it was finally time for muster 1530 on the dot, we had station 004 on deck 5.

Once we got there the weather was beautiful, it was nice and warm just standing there in the warmth. After the captain let us go, we were to meet in the Spotlight Lounge for the cruise critic sail away party. On the way, we passed Starbucks and I picked up a chocolate chip scone. Yummy! Pictures of this will come later, I have no idea why I did not get them right away, but maybe I was in too much of a hurry!

When we got to the Spotlight Lounge, Royal was having the naughty luggage pick up there so we ended up in the Schooner Lounge. David and I just drank water and saved ourselves for later.

Now at 1700 we headed for the Diamond lounge, David went to the room and checked on the missing piece of luggage, it had finally arrived. I went straight to the lounge; there were a couple of different cheeses and veggies, some lamb meatballs, and samosas. David drank whiskey straight up but I had vodka tonics.

We were making our way under the bridges now, when you board at ship in Baltimore, it must sit low enough in the water to pass under two bridge systems, The Francis Scott Key Bridge and then the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. This restriction does cause us to be very limited in our ship, I have seen were some of the newer ships have smoke stacks that are retractable.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge, also known as the Outer Harbor Bridge or simply the Key Bridge, is a continuous truss bridge spanning the Patapsco River in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The main span of 1,200 feet (366 m) is the third longest span of any continuous truss in the world.

The bridge was opened in March 1977 and is named for the author of the Star Spangled Banner, Francis Scott Key. The bridge is the outermost of three toll crossings of Baltimores Harbor. Upon completion, the bridge structure and its approaches became the final links in Interstate 695 (the Baltimore Beltway). Despite the I-695 signage, the bridge is officially considered part of Maryland Route 695.

The span is 1,200 feet (366 m) long and carries an estimated 11.5 million vehicles annually. This bridge is a designated hazardous materials truck route, as HAZMATs are prohibited in the two tunnels.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge (commonly known as the Bay Bridge) is a major dual-span bridge in the U.S. state of Maryland. Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, it connects the state's rural Eastern Shore region with the more urban Western Shore. The original span opened in 1952 and, at the time, with a length of 4.3 miles (6.9 km), it was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure. The parallel span was added in 1973. Officially, the bridge is named the William Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge after William Preston Lane, Jr. who, as governor of Maryland, initiated its construction.

The bridge is part of U.S. Routes 50 and 301, and serves as a vital link in both routes. As part of U.S. Route 50, it connects the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area with Ocean City, Maryland and other coastal tourist destinations. As part of U.S. Route 301, it serves as part of an alternate route for Interstate 95 travelers between northern Delaware and the Washington, D.C. area. Because of this linkage, the bridge is heavily traveled and has become known as a point of traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours and summer months.

We sat there with Jim and Marylou, Rod and Jean, Bob and Phyllis and Don and Carol.
In the Yellow is Phyllis, her DH Bob next to her on her right. Then Carol and Don on the left side of the picture.

This is Andrea was our Bar Server, she pretty much stuck with us all the cruise&

Tonights Sunset was very pretty, notice how calm the waters are&

We all decided to head to dinner at 7:30, Jim decided to go ahead and make reservations for us for tonight and every night for the cruise. One of the pluses of MyTime dinning.

David, Don, and Carol, taking the glass elevator down to Deck 5 for dinner.

Our waiter is Lakinder, and we will have him the entire cruise.

Tonights Menu

David had a Cesar salad, with extra anchovies and I had the coconut seafood soup for the first course, David had the seafood soup after that.

The next course, I had to cod and David had the salmon.

For dessert I had the carrot cake, and had two bites, David had the mango pudding, he ate the whole thing.

We left the dining room and I took some shots around the ship.

From there we headed to the Boleros lounge, Jim and David sang karaoke (Amarillo by Morning), and it was funny to watch, I got video... We made plans to meet for breakfast at 0830.

After some fun singing, we headed back to the cabin, and it was after 2300

Looks like a nice first day. That dinner menu was rather diverse. How many passengers were on the ship?
