When reading a thread do you...

1. Skip to the last post and read just that;
2. Read the entire thread, no matter the length, before responding;
3. Read the entire thread if fairly short or skip the older posts if not;
4. Read the original post then skip;
5. Use your judgement;
6. Other.

Me, personally, I'm a '3' kinda person, in that I'll read the entire thread if fairly short or skip the older posts if not I will read the OP though, usually.

It's really annoying when you have a thread that runs on for several pages, then you get someone who reads and responds to the original post, adressing things that everyone else talked about three pages ago.

I'm all over the place on this one. Sometimes I start on the last page and if that gets my attention I go back, sometimes I start at the beginning. It depends.

I always specify that I didn't read the entire thing when it is pages long, then say what I want to say. If that is annoying, sorry. If it isn't real long I read all the posts.

For really long threads, I read the 1st page then skip to the last page to see how far off topic they are! LOL

This applies most often. I am not going to read a thread that is 10+ pages long but I will often read page 1 and maybe 2 and then skip to the end. Sometimes I will click on the number of replies to see the names of posters and see if there are obviously 2 or 3 people just having a conversation.

I read the whole thread if it's 5 pages or less; if it's longer, I read the first one or two pages, then skip to the end.

I try to read a full thread before replying. I might start with the last couple pages, then go back and read the beginning to see how things morphed. The exception would be if a thread is ~8+ pages long, I probably won't read the entire thing, but at least the last 2-3 pages and limit my comments to things that happened on those pages.

There are always exceptions though.

If I reply to a thread, I've read the whole thread. Unless it's the type of post where the OP is asking for the best/worst/favorite/least favorite of something that doesn't warrant a conversation, just a response.

Although, if I notice a long thread, I'll skim it for the drama/entertainment but I normally don't post a response.

I read the whole thing. I don't want to repeat anything someone else has posted already.

OTHER. Because I do all of the above. It depends on the subject and how many people have responded. If it is really long and the subject sounds unbelievable to have it this long....so I read from the last to the first.

Mega threads I only read the OP and the last couple of pages.

Normal threads (under 10 pages usually) I will read the whole thing.
