Renting a car at Port to return to MCO

If we choose to rent a car to get us from WDW to Port and Port to MCO, what am I looking at realistically time-wise for the morning we return to Port? If we get up, grab breakfast, and are headed off the ship at 8 am, what's the rest of the morning going to look like? I know we will have to wait for the shuttle to take us to the rental car area, along with everyone else who is doing this. Is 2 hours from arriving at the shuttle waiting area to getting our car realistic? We have not done a cruise before and I'm hoping for some advice from those who have done it before.

TIA for the advice!!

The shuttle will most likely be waiting for you once you claim your bags and clear customs. They typically leave as soon as they fill up - probably in 10-15 minutes from wen you board. Expect it to take 5-10 minutes to get to the agency lot and then you'll need to fill out your paperwork before getting a car. At any rate, I'd think you will be underway in an hour (or less) from when you get off the ship.

Will depend on the line for the rental car shuttle. Sometimes you can walk right up, other times you may have to wait for one or two shuttles. (Imagine entire families with all their luggage getting on shuttle to pick up a rental car). They fill up fast.

Once you get your rental, figure 50-60 minutes to get to MCO.

OK, for those of you who've rented cars at Port Canaveral - is it a good idea to be "first off" (early) or "wait till the end" (later) for quicker transport/processing time in picking up a car?

We have LOTS of time between the ship clearing and when our flight is at MCO (that's a whole 'nother story), so I'm inclined to be at the end of the rush off the ship, but am worried that there will be just tons of people already lined up at the rental agency and we'll wind up spending hours there.

We rented from Budget in Feb (going to Port and coming back). We were off a little before 8, waited about 10-15 mins for the shuttle, waited another 10 mins or so for the rental car, and were on our way pretty quickly. We were at Down Town Disney before 11.

With a later flight, I would debark later. If you are checking luggage, you don't want to arrive at the MCO check-in counter any earlier than when your airline starts accepting bags for your flight.

Wow, the entire family goes on the shuttle? We are a family of six and we had planned to just let my husband grab the shuttle and head over to get the car.
