Help me pick a date to go to enjoy Food and Wine Festival and Lights on Castle at MK!

Hello fellow Disney Lovers and Planners

We are finally ready to get planning on our WDW vacation for 2012!!
BUT... I am not sure how we can get two events packed into this years trip. We want to hit the Food and Wine Festival & see the lights on the castle at MK! We are able to go a full week.

I read that the Food and Wine Festival ends Nov 11th 2012. But I am not sure they have indicated when the lights will be on the castle at MK. My guess is prob around Nov 8th?? The dates we are looking to travel is anytime between Oct 27th through Nov 17th.

Does anyone know typically when the lights are on the castle at MK?

Well, the Christmas party started on Nov 8th last year, so I'm guessing your safe with around that time this year. Good luck!!

We were there last fall 11/8-11/12, and really had the best time. We did Food and Wine, the Christmas Party..and of course saw the Castle lights..as well as the Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian. We also got to see the Osbourne lights at the Studios for the first time.

One piece of advice...stay away from Food and Wine on a Saturday night. Granted, when we were there it was the last weekend, which made it extra crazy, but we enjoyed it much more during the day.

Actually, we went to the Food & Wine on a Saturday (it was the last Sat in October) and though we did see a few people who had to be assisted by their friends... It wasn't that bad. As long as you don't let others ruin your time there, I think your good to go no matter what day you decide to enjoy it. Yeah, the lines may be longer, but hey, its good food!

Seriously...we were at Epcot the final Saturday last year as well and you just couldn't even move in the World Showcase! We ended up eating a hot dog from the African outpost and then leaving...it was that crazy! I would definitely try to go during the week. Another thing that contributes to the crowds at that time is Jersey Week and as much as I liked to think it was an exagerration, I saw it firsthand last year and it is a real phenomenon. As soon as those folks went back to school, the crowds decreased tremendously!

Jersey week refers to the week in November that NJ teachers have conferences. That means the schools are closed on Thursday and Friday and many many NJ families swarm to WDW. It is crazy crowded. It is the week leading up to Veterans Day weekend.
