Folding strollers on monorail??
Hello all, I have not been to WDW since 2010 and I have seen a few posts recently where people discuss having to fold strollers on the monorail. Is this common? Do you have a choice?
I have 7 children under 11, so obviously a double stroller. With that crew we do NOT pack lightly, so the stroller basket is packed for the day. I'm concerned about replicating the bus stresses now on the monorail if this is becoming common. We stay offsite and I don't even fold the double stroller in my van, so we can pack it at the house and leave it unfolded...great convenience. This system will have to change if they have been asking people to fold em. We're going in a slower time (Apr 20-30), so if it's only the case during busy times we may be ok. Thanks for any info you can give! Neil |

We traveled last year Dec 2011 at Christmas time and we were not asked to fold up the stroller once. I have heard about it on here, but I have never seen it in person.

My friend was asked once over a 2 week period to fold her stroller - it was a particularly busy day and all the transport was crammed full so she didn't mind at all

Yep. It's gonna depend on how packed it is. Can't recall ever having to fold it up on our last trip.

Generally, you don't have to fold strollers on the monorail. If it is really busy, they may ask you to do so to get more people on.

We were never asked to fold our very compact Mac Volo. Frankly, folding it wouldn't have changed anything; then a child would be standing there. LOL.

We have been asked twice, both during "off" season. Both times leaving Epcot for the TTC. I declined (politely) and we were told to wait for the next monorail, which we did.

We've been twice a year since 2003 all different times of year..last trip was Oct 2012 with strollers on every trip.
I've never been asked to fold up a stroller on the monorail. I think it would be very rare.

We were asked one time over a period of 2 weeks. It was after leaving the Christmas party. Crowds were very thick, so that's why they asked. Other than that, when crowds were regular or even a little heavy, it was never mentioned.

We went last April (off season) and we kept our children in the double stroller while on the monorail---we had so much stuff in the bottome storage section of the stroller that unloading all of that and putting the stroller down would have been a big inconvenience plus annoying!
I think you will be fine keeping the stroller up.

Thanks for your replies all...
We've always managed to get the bags out of the bottom basket at the security check, and it hasn't been a big deal, I guess since it's only bags I leave plenty of loose stuff and they barely glance at it. |

We went last October and were never asked to fold the stroller. I guess it would depend on how busy it is.

It is not common, but I have seen it happen when the monorail was going to be packed. You may want to bring along an extra bag for your loose stuff, just in case. It probably won't happen, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

We have never been asked to fold a stroller on a packed monorail - not even during peak time like Memorial Day weekend.
