Planning 3 day trip
We have 3 day park hopper tickets. We were planning on doing CA Adventure one day and then spend the next two days at Disneyland splitting the park up in half.
How do you plan your trips? What works best for you? We have 3 kids ages 2, 6 and 10. Thanks!

We generally do the same, 2 days in Disneyland and one at DCA. With age variations of your kids you'll need every bit of the three days to get most everything in.
I'd start in Fantasyland for sure and make any EMH or MM that you have access to. Midday breaks are a total must for us. Then we like to go back and close down the parks.
Park hopping is very very easy so you don't have to do 2/1, you can go back and forth depending on crowd levels etc.....
There are some mega super threads around here with very helpful hints.
Planning is so much fun.

have a quick look at Hydroguy's tips for DL newbies. Not sure if it's your first time, just guessing based on the number of posts you have. If it is your first time, be sure to get first time buttons from City Hall, they're free.
