Parking in Miami
Does anyone have any suggestions for parking at the Port of Miami? I am driving down Monday morning from Orlando to board the Wonder and was hoping someone could offer some advice. Also, if you parked off-site, how long did it take you to get to the port? Thanks for your help!

I googled it and there were several options around the port at all different price ranges and security levels, they offered shuttle service to the port and some were close enough to walk if you went to port first to drop off your luggage

The 'close enough to walk' is true -- if you are a walker and don't mind a loooong stroll. I'd guess the bridge itself to be about a mile, and then you'd still have to walk to the bridge and from the bridge to the Disney terminal which is close but probably another 1/2 mile by the time you crossed all the traffic.
That said, I did park in downtown at a lot that is only $4.50/day rather than the $20 at the POM. It is right in front of the Arena, about 2 blocks up, then you'd have to cross the main boulevard that is 3-4 lanes and another block up to the bridge. I took a shuttle ($7, round trip) back to the POM, and wish I would have just taken a taxi. I took a taxi back when the shuttle never showed, and that was easy. The lot is not in a great area, but it is fenced. There are a lot of street people in the area, but the fence is high and the property around the fenced lot is not developed so it would be hard for anyone to climb the fence. (And I drive an old Honda, so not much reason to steal my car). There is a garage in the area too, and I think it is about $8/day. So I paid $32 to park and $7 plus $13 for the taxi. I could have walked, but it was too hot for me (and I'm old like my car). Parking at POM would have been $160. Nancy |
