Keys

Silly question... Other than the obvious of getting into your room, what all do you need your key for? I can't stand wearing a lanyard and would love to have my key in an easy access place in my small cross body. Will I need to be taking it out constantly?

Also,

All charging privileges since the ship is cashless. We hardly use the lanyards, usually just slip the card in a pocket or DH carries it.

It is also used when you leave the ship and return from port. That way they can keep track of who is on the ship or still in port.

Also,
As mentioned, you use it as your payment method onboard (and at Castaway Cay). You also use it for getting off and back on the ship in ports.

And if you're on the Dream or the Fantasy, you use it to turn on the lights, TV, AC, etc, in your room. (Although, technically, you can use any card to do that).

You need it to get on and off the ship (EACH person must have it including infants), to get into the room, and to charge anything. It is also your proof that you are an adult if someone challenges you in an adult only area.

On the new ships, you don't even need to take it out of the lanyard to open the door; you just hold it up to the sensor. And on the new ships, you need a card to turn on the lights but any credit card sized item will do--an old KTTW card from previous cruise, a library card, etc.....anything the size of a credit card.
