New Pattiserie in France to open at 9 AM rather than the normal 11 AM
A nice change.

Hmm. Nothing on the new menu screams "breakfast entree"; wonder if they will expand the menu the mornings to make it a full CS breakfast location, or just snack credit and oop items?

Perhaps. But it seems to have limited utility. I can't see anyone entering throught the Future World gates bypassing all of the FW attractions to make the 15 minute walk to France for breakfast, and then walking all the way back to FW after eating, since nothing in the World Showcase will be open yet. Your day at Epcot won't effectively begin until 10:00. Maybe this works in the deadest of offseasons. But with any sort of crowds gathering, this seems like an inefficient use of time.
People entering through the World Showcase entrance can get to the Pattiserie much quicker. But even still. Those people would have had the option of eating at the Boardwalk Bakery prior to Epcot opening which would leave them to dash off to their favorite attraction upon park entry instead of putting themselves 30 minutes behind the curve by making a detour to France. While we all long for the day when WDW returns to a more leisurely pace, the truth of the matter is that the mad dashes for Soarin, Test Track, Kilimanjaro, Everest, FLE and Toy Story Mania are here to stay. It's going to be a hard sell to convince people to stop and smell the croissants, if you know what I mean. Without any other attraction open in WS at that hour, I can see people going to Akershus for a character breakfast, but I can't see the lure in going to France for a pastry and cup of coffee. At least not after the novelty of the new location wears off. |

I think it might appeal to those coming in IG and who are on a more relaxed, non commando time schedule, or actually no time schedule at all. I know I am pretty much like that, knowing only what park/s I am doing on a given day/night, but doing some of that croissant smelling along the way.

I don't do mad dashes and am usually staying by the International Gateway...wonder if they will have wine for breakfast. This is cool.
And for those who do mad dashes they may be thinking Fastpass + will cut down on some of that.

We also have a relaxed touring style and stay at the Epcot resorts so this is something we'll definitely try. Pick up coffee and a croissant and continue to FW or sit down for a few minutes. We've seen people stop at the coffee and pastry kiosk near the UK pavillion so this is one more option.

There is no doubt that some folks will welcome the relaxed approach of strolling to France. There is also no doubt that some folks will never consider the possibility. The question is: how many of each will there be. |

We also have a relaxed touring style. I was disappointed about the temporary closing of the Boardwalk Bakery but this will fill that void

My family has never been "commando" in touring the parks. We get FPs for the rides we really want to go on, but we are relatively laid back as far as touring, so I am thrilled the will open early, and even more so now since the Boardwalk Bakery will be closed in our upcoming trip. We will just walk to the International Gateway entrance and grab some pastries.

Is the new bakery in the same location of the old one? The photos state that you enter toward the rear - isn't this the building that houses Impressions De France/gift shop?
TIA
