What will you be doing on the first day of 2013?

A quiet, relaxing day here tomorrow. Last year we were in Pasadena. We had front row bleacher seats at the beginning of the Tournament of Roses Parade. It was something I had always wanted to do, and it was absolutely amazing! We loved every minute of the parade and the post-parade float viewing. I can still smell all those flowers!

Tomorrow, I'll be watching the Rose Parade on tv. I'm cooking a pot roast in the crockpot, and spending the rest of the day undecorating the house.

How will you be spending the first day of the new year?

Im off tomorrow so my plan is to take down the Christmas decorations and mow the lawn. Maybe clean the bathrooms if I feel like it. Very exciting day at my house tomorrow.

That is so neat you got to see the parade in person last year, what fun! I would love to do that some year. Maybe the year we cruise to Hawaii from California we could incorporate that with the parade.

As for me tomorrow will be a relaxing day at home. We love watching the Rose Parade, and DH will probably want to watch the football game too. We're down to the last of the Christmas Day leftovers, still have 3 packages of turkey in the freezer so I'll probably make something with one of those. Not going to de-Christmasize the house as I like having the tree/decorations up until January 7th so will wait and do it that next weekend.

A quiet day at home, just the four of us- watching the Tournament of Roses parade, and ending with the traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner.

NEXT YEAR- 2014- my DS13 will be marching in the Tournament of Roses parade with the HS band (God willing, he makes it- he's a drummer and it's competitive. He will be an incoming freshman). So- our plan right now is to be in Pasadena with the band! Yes!!

I definitely recommend viewing the parade from bleachers near the beginning of the parade, and if you can get front row seats, it's even better! We were just a few feet from the passing floats and bands. The floats are absolutely beautiful! TV can't really do them justice. I was amazed at all the materials used to make the floats- not just flowers, but tiny seeds, nuts, parts of fruits and whole fruits.

I'd love to go again some year. Good luck to your son and I hope you get to go to the parade next year!

I remember all those beautiful pics of the parade you posted last year..those were amazing!

We will be spending it quietly at home, undecorating what is still left up, mainly the trees. Roast pork and sauerkraut will be in the slow cooker early in the morning, then we will watch the parade

Hope everyone has a safe Happy New Years Eve and a great start to a new year!

I'll be working tomorrow.

Also working tonight. I should get home right around midnight, have a drink to celebrate the new year, listen to my neighbors set off fireworks, then off to bed. I party like it's 1899!

Watching the Parade on TV, then watching The Game (go Stanford!)

I'll start the long process of undecorating the tree. We'll see how that goes, since I'll be drinking mimosas too.
