We've gone in Dec before, it's so nice an not crowded
Just go at park open (without a breakfast reservation) and you'll be fine.

We went in late August and it was a slow day but we still got to DHS at rope drop, my ds and I went to straight to the sign up. Lots of folks in front of us. They needed one more for the first show and we were able to take that one. Folks behind us got a 2PM.

It was so nice to do the first show.

When people say be there at rope drop does that mean we can get there right at rope drop or should we be there 30-60 min before that? We are staying at BLT. I've never been to WDW so I'm not sure how we get to HS. Do we take the monorail to Epcot and walk from there? Trying to figure out what time I have to get up. Sounds like I need to leave 2 hours prior to rope drop I guess?

Thank you VERY much!! I figured we'd be okay but wanted to check in anyway. I'd LOVE to get first show just so we don't have to worry about watching times, but will take whatever we can get of course! Thanks for taking away one of my worries

Sign-up in order or Select time slot?

When you sign-up first thing in the morning, can you select a really late time-slot or are you given the next available time-slot based on your position in the sign-up line? (Hope I am making sense!)

Last year we stumbled on the Jedi training the last night of our trip and stood there and watched. My DD wanted to do it on our next trip. We thought about how hot it would have been to stand in the afternoon sun to watch it; and that area can be so conjested during the day. So are you able to choose a night time timeslot?

You take the bus from your resort to DHS. You should not take the monorail to Epcot because the monorail drops you off at Epcot's front entrance and the walkway to DHS is at the back (WS) entrance. You would have to wait for Eocot to open then walk through the park.
