Shore excursions I wanted are already sold out for 3/23 Fantasy cruise! Help!

I guess I did not jump on this right away, thinking (incorrectly) that I had some time to book shore excursions and brunch at Palo or Remy. Unfortunately, I'm too late!!! Do you know if they hold back on any reservations so you can book when you get on the ship?? Is there a wait list in case people cancel???? Or should I just sign up for "second best" right now???

Palo and Remy, they *do* hold back a bunch of the reservations for people to book once they get onboard. Excursions, however, once they sell out, they're sold out unless somebody cancels. I don't know if the Excursions Desk would do a waitlist. I'd grab second best for now, and just keep checking back in case someone cancels one you want.

Shore excursions do come and go. If you really want something, check back often! We booked a last minute rate for Jan and everything was gone. I checked several times a day and yes, many of the things I wanted did come available. I know on board you can also check but its best to keep checking before hand on the website. Since you are a ways out yet you still have a good chance some of your times and/or excursions will come available.
Good luck!

Join the meet group at http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...04&postcount=1. It's possible someone else wants to book an excurions on their own for the same reason but they need a minimum number of people.

I am looking at a Dolphin swim in Cozumel. Got info from DCL website and found both Dolphin places websites. Called one website and was told that if I come in on DCL that I could NOT book a visit myself and chatted online with a rep from other website and she said I did not have to go through DCL. So Im learning very quickly that some of the cruise lines buy out all of the admissions or have an agreement with the companys to corner the market.

I know in my research many ppl have made reservations/shore excursions themselves outside of DCL and saved BIG $$$$$$. Personally I just found out today that a dolphin adventure for my family of 4 is $505 booked through DCL and only$282 if I book it myself on the website.

If DCL hasnt cornered all the admissions that particular day for the excersuion you want to do you may be able to book it yourself outside of DCL.

1 major thing explained to me when I called dolphin adventure was if I book outside of DCL and for whatever reason the ship doesnt come into port then I would have NO recourse for a refund (not their fault), if booked through DCL and the port is cancelled I would imagine sometype of refund or maybe OBC would be issued, but when you are talking almost 1/2 price and the fact that I believe DCL record would indicate a high efficiencie rating, might be worth the very small risk. I am highly considering doing this myself.

Sorry to ramble hope this helps.

Generally, it's not so much that DCL has taken up all the admissions for that day, it's just that they have an agreement with the provider that they won't book anyone who is coming in on one of their ships, so that those people will have to book through DCL.

If you book an excursion through DCL, and the ship doesn't go to that port, your money is refunded for the excursion.

Also consider that DCL will be responsible for you if you are late back to port for any reason if you book through them. They will either hold the ship for you or get you to the next port. If you are booked on your own & late, it is up to you to get to the next port. For that reason alone, I have always been willing to spend more money through Disney. I tend to be the type who would worry all day about getting caught in traffic or something that would cause me to miss the ship & I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself as much.

I ran into many of the same issues, since we used DVC points we were not able to book until the 75 day window and we were not able to book one of the excursions that we wanted. Also, most of the on board activities were all booked up.

You must mean the spa and/or Palo and Remy. Most onboard activities are not open for advance reservations, and most really don't require reservations at all - though a few you do need to sign up once you are onboard. I'm sure you'll find plenty to do!

Also, I didn't know payment method had anything to do with online check-in date. I thought that is determined by Castaway Club level or new cruiser.

Enjoy your cruise!

First of all, the person booking in Cozumel on their own -- if you are not going during huricane season, it is more likely that DCL will dock there. There may not be a good weather day however.

DCL doesn't charge your room account until the day of the excursion so it's not that they refund you if you can't go on the excursion. If it is cancelled -- for whatever reason -- your account just isn't charged. All water excursions were cancelled one time we were in Cozumel due to the harbor being closed. It never showed up on our bill.

Also, if a DCL sponsored excursion is running late they will wait for it -- to a point. If it is going to be too long DCL's rep will get you to the next port.

Actually, I just sailed on the Fantasy in December and all 3 of my DCL excursions were already charged to my account on the first day of the cruise. When my parasailing excursion on CC was cancelled due to high winds, I had a credit on my account later that day for the excursion.

Your having to wait until 75 days out had nothing to do with DVC points. If this is your first cruise or you are only Silver Castaway, that is the reason. Priority in booking has to do with the Castaway level or if you have a concierge room.

Sayhello that is what the girl @ Dolpin Discovery that they had an agreement. So I posted this question elsewhere, how do/would they know that we came off of DCL to refuse us???? She mentioned something about wrist bands??? This is our 1st time and Disney is money hand over fist, so I am trying to skin the cat a cheaper way for the same exact services. Thanks.

When you book a private excursion, they ask if you are coming from a ship and what ship you are coming from. If they can, they want to help you make sure you get back to the ship on time. A stranded client is not a happy one.

I suppose you could leave that blank or just say you are not coming from a ship. Of course then if something happens and the port is cancelled and you can't show up, you can't use that to try and get a refund (if they even offer refunds).

All good info. Can someone please explain in detail the priority for booking shore excursions and how far out. I agree and understand the signifigance of booking excursions through DCL and was aware of all the points made BUT I found the same exact excursion @ Dolpin Discovery booking myself online for $282 while DCL offered it @ $505. My calculations are 44% difference. I will have to get my own cab and pretty sure any food would be out of pocket with DCL as well.

Have done my research and 10-15 min cab ride. I am A Firefighter by profession and run 5+ miles 1-3 times a week as well as Crossfit and many other fitness programs as well as my wife and my kids are very active with us quite often. Worse case scenario we jog/walk/run back to ship because I would have scheduled with plenty of time to return.

There comes a point when its a calculated risk all factors beinging considered. I guess I have not religated myself to "its a Disney cruise so prepare to hemmorage $$$$$"
