BOG - dessert with QS for kids?

I've read two comments now in two different blogs about how kids could not get a dessert with their lunch using the DDP QS credit at BOG. Can anyone confirm if this is true? My daughter has her sites set on that strawberry cupcake!

We were there last week. No desert with the kids! We bought a cupcake with a snack credit (had to be done as a second transaction, got a second rose...) so that no one had to cry about sharing (this includes me )

Thanks for letting me know. Do you get something instead of dessert or they just get the entree and beverage? Do you know why?

Im confused. The pdf menus i've seen online say the kids lunch meal at BOG includes a choice of cupcake for dessert. Is the menu different inside the restaurant? Seems odd as all cs lunch/dinner meals include dessert.

Our son had the turkey sandwich and was allowed to choose 2 sides. He got french fries and peach applesauce (I ate that, it was really good!). He also had his choice of beverages also. He had a small soda. I was not told why. At dinner, the children get to chose from the same desserts as the adults.

When you order on the DDP at Be Our Guest, they scan your card, you press x adults, x children and then the ordering is kind of automatic, as you choose items, it is placed under guest 1, guest 2 and so on. The only way that we could oder other items was to get a second rose and scan the card again. We wanted to cupcake and also a bowl of soup to try and it was done as a separate transaction.

Hope that helps. To be honest, we were quite surprised also, but had already promised the cupcake of his choice!

While it is true that most CS places offer dessert to the kids, it is often not the same choices that the adults have. My son had peach applesauce as a second side, I guess that you could consider that dessert. We were also surprised when we got up to the kiosk to order.

At all CS locations, I thought kids meals come with entree, drink and 2 sides. Most kids choose some kind of dessert as one of the sides (cookie or pudding or jello) but it's still a side option. While I'm surprised that there isn't another dessert-like option besides the peach applesauce, I don't see why they would offer an additional dessert or one of the regular desserts (something that's not done at any other CS location) beyond the 2 sides that are typically offered for a kids credit.

There have been several reports here and elsewhere that the dessert menu is not considered part of the children's menu and the dessert is not included in the meal. This means a separate dessert must be purchased for the child. It also means the dessert isn't included in the dining plan for a child's lunch. That is not how it looks on a lot of the published menus, it just looks as though the children get the same dessert as the adults, but that isn't how it is working in practice. I remember one poster saying they were able to get applesauce but they had to jump through some hoops to get it.

As noted, a snack credit can be used to purchase a dessert separately.

I think we're going to just use a couple snack credits to get cupcakes instead of a meal there so we can check out BOG. My kids are really picky eaters, but I still want to see BOG
