Ohana menu changes

I really liked the old salad, but will pass making judgement on the new one until I try it.

I think stir-fried veggies are much better than plain broccoli.

The one change I don't like is that they eliminated 2 of the 3 dipping sauces. I hope they'll bring those back, but it's probably a cost-cutting measure.

I know that the current dessert is wildly popular, but I wouldn't mind seeing a new dessert offered for something different.

I agree with you - I love stir fry green beans and water chesnuts, youngest DS will LOVE the baby corn and oldest DS will love the broccoli, water chesnuts, baby corn, beans and peppers!!! So we're set great way to get some veggies in my boys.

As for the sauces - we never used all the choices anyway, but liked to have the choice to choose (I think I liked the peanut sauce best, but would like a choice of having sweet n sour for youngest DS)... so maybe if enough people surveyed say they liked having a choice, they'll have other sauces "on request only"

I like the sound of the changes and am looking forward to eating there in September - I hope they keep the changes, with exception to the "only one sauce" choice (for variety and allergy wise they should have the other sauces and a salad without the fruit)

To all those cancelling ADRs over these changes thanks for freeing up more available times for the rest of us! LOL!

Seriously tho, I personally don't feel these changes are so huge. We actually only like the peanut sauce anyway. To us the other sauces are pretty disgusting. I don't love fruit in a salad, but it's definitely not a deal breaker for any of us. We can just pick the fruit out if we don't like/want it. I love the idea of more veggies, as the plain broccoli was pretty boring. So for my family the changes don't really bother me at all.

And let's not forget the menu has changed several times over the last 5-10 years. I remember hearing lots of complaints each time something was changed, yet here we are again...many complaining that they "like the way it is now". We are just talking about sauce, salad, and a side dish!

I understand allergies, but the peanut sauce was there before so nothing new there for those with allergies. You can avoid it just as you did before, no???? Unless of course you have to have sauce with your meat. As far a I am concerned if I felt the meat was so dry or flavorless that I needed dipping sauce to enjoy it, then perhaps this is not the best place to eat. I have a child with poultry and seafood allergies, as well as a husband with seafood and cashew allergies, and we had never felt uncomfortable at at any meal because of these allergies. My son knows he can' t have any of the chicken or shrimp at Ohana. He just avoids those foods and fills up on what he can have, and its still one of his favorite meals in WDW. Not a big deal for our family.

A few thoughts...

--The introduction of the vegetable variety seems like a big plus.

--The change in salad dressing seems neutral. The fruit that now is included in the salad should perhaps be served alongside the salad, as some may not like it, and some may be allergic.

--The reduction in sauce selection might look good on paper, but there is no reason not to have other varieties available upon request. And if a restaurant is going to narrow the field to one single sauce, choosing the one that has the highest allergic potential seems idiotic.

--Finally....for those of you cancelling your ADRs over these changes, please find some way (call, email or letter) to let WDW know the reason. As we know, 'Ohana is wildly popular, so your cancellation will be filled almost immediately, and WDW will never figure out why you chose to dump this one.
Worse yet, there is a real possibility of "self-selection", meaning that people who love the peanut sauce, but wasted the other sauces will now make up a disproprtionate number of diners, since the "I want other sauces" crowd will have abandoned the ship. If those who disapprove of the changes don't voice their concerns either in person or otherwise, and those who do go to the restaurant are all people who love the changes, then during the trial period, WDW may get the inaccurate impression that the "general public" likes the changes. But it won't be a random sampling of the general public and instead will be a sampling of people who know going in that the changes suited them. WDW needs to hear from the other folks as well, and if you all cancel your ADRs without explanation, how will they ever hear the other side of the story?

I made reservations here in May as I've seen the wonderful reviews and we've never eaten here before. I LOVE pineapple and was looking forward to trying that sauce. Jeez, just read about the Le Cellier changes and now this.... looks like our TS meals are going downhill

Oh no...we are eating there tomorrow night and I find this so disappointing The honey lime dressing is my favorite and I eat there for that and the dessert. I wonder if I can ask for the honey lime dressing anyway? I like the idea of more veggies and don't care about the sauce...but I want the honey lime dressing dammit!

My guess would be that they kept the peanut sauce because it is the main sauce guests eat. I saw this mentioned by a previous poster as well. That poster said they asked the CM why they went with the peanut sauce and the response was that the other sauces mostly got thrown out. I don't think it has anything to do with guests with allergies, more about waste. Supply and demand. If they are only going to keep one sauce it's surely not going to be one of the sauces that usually gets thrown out cup still full.

We eat at Ohana's on every trip, sometimes we have a party of 15-20 people. We don't even touch the other two sauces, yet we always have to ask for refills on the peanut sauce. Granted we are just one party, but apparently this is the case with a lot of other guests as well.

I do think it would be wise to have additional sauce available on request, espcially for those with allergies. But then again, I still don't think a dipping sauce would make or break a meal for my family. If I HAD to have the sauce for the meat to taste good, and/or to counter the dryness of the meat, then I'd probably not like Ohana's to start with. To me grilled meats should taste yummy on their own or they are not prepared well. We've always had juicy meat, and I've never felt the need to pour on the sauce to make the meat taste good, but maybe that's just my family.

We love Ohana's. I don't think the changes will make much of a difference to us.

Is Ohana's still $15/child and $34.99/adult? Thanks.

Love the salad, and my DS LOVES their broccoli! So much that they brought him more the last time (with mom actually saying, "you should save room for desert!".) I know I'm in the minority but I can't STAND fruit on my salad! Ohana is our family favorite, I hate that they are making changes to my menu!

Not the salad dressing!!!!!!!!!!! That was my favorite. Plus if they took away the sauces, may want to rethink this. Sad because this is our favorite dinner. I think I will book a back-up dinner someplace else and wait and see if they change it back.

Just personally I am fine with the sauces, and happy about the salad changes and vegetables. However I did LOVE that salad dressing so I hope it's not too different. I am sure I will live either way and have a good time though

Since there are so many Ohana-goers here, I figure I'll also ask this question since we are going for the first time...Its a little OT


How 'banana' tasting is the bread pudding? Two in my party are not big banana people. Just curious, not that I don't mind having more for me, but we want to get our money's worth, won't make much sense if they don't like the dessert. Thanks for any input.

They changed the salad dressings. The honey lime vinaigrette was my fave dressing EVER! And the sweet and sour. If they don't change by June, I'm out and this is a must do every time....I wouldn't know what to replace with...

Not very banana tasting. My hubby hates bananas and the dessert was his favorite thing he ate the entire trip...YUMMMM....still dreaming of it!!

My son doesn't eat banana's and he loved it.
