Categories?

Can someone please explain categories to me?

I don't understand the difference between all these numbers and letter combinations!!! I mean, I get that it's different decks and rooms, but is that all? Is one supposed to be better than another?

09D 05C 04E...what does it all mean!?! *pause for dramatic effect*

The numbers relate to the type of accommodations. Lower numbers are generally the more costly rooms - suites & verandahs. Higher numbers are the more budget minded rooms - oceanviews & insides.

Within each category (for example, 9 is an oceanview room), the letters differentiate between the "better" locations. Typically midship is considered "better", while forward and aft are less so. So a 9B room is more midship than a 9C or 9D.

Here is a link that has information regarding picking a stateroom and the different categories.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruis...erooms.htm#cat

Cat 11-10 are inside rooms
Cat 9-8 oceanview with a porthole
Cat 7-4 verandah
Concierge suites

The letters just pertain to higher deck/location on deck with A being more midship or on a higher deck than B or C.
