Medical info in signaures

I've noticed in some signatures in my travels around the various forums here, that people list their (or their children's) medical/allergy info. Why is that? Seems like an odd thing to list. I mean, do I really need to know that your fallopian tubes are good, or that your child is allergic to eggs?

Enlighten me.

Last time I checked, it was still the thought that counted
Wanna debate that topic?

I have a theory but I don't think I'll share it. It won't go over well.

Waiting for the inevitable "if you don't like it then turn off signatures" post.

I think it is weird. It's a vacation board, not a medical maladies board. Guess it makes them feel special or something?

Lol to PP

My GUESS (and it's just a guess) is the posters w/ all sorts of medical info in thier signatures prob do a lot of posting of other boards as well... like the disabilities board, the WISH board, etc or are active posters in threads that releate to that topic (Like people trying to conceive, gluten allergies, etc)

again that's just my guess, because otherwise, I can't understand why else they would have it there?

I like seeing the signatures though. They don't bother me per se, I was just curious about the reasoning behind them.

Man, after hearing this I'm even more glad I turned that feature off. I got so sick of seeing 2749 days since our first trip. Seriously people, at some point you have to move on.

I think some people are just begging for attention. I can't fathom why someone would put personal information like that in their signature.

That is a good question. I sometimes think I am over-sharing with a baby ticker in my signature.

When I was on a pregnancy board we use to list any medical stuff in our sigs so we could find each other on there. I was one of the few with a heart defect baby so if anyone who was pregnant had a baby dx with a heart defect they'd ask me questions or we'd find another heart defect mom to ask with the same defect especially if it was a rare dx. I guess the same thing could be ask as to why anyone has anything in their sigs from their family info, how many dd's ds or why someone would have pics of their grandkids in theirs

Agreed.

Which is why I have signatures turned off. I don't see any of it, so it doesn't bother me.

Of course it is. It is also a women's support board and a name my pet/baby board.

Can you say hypochondriac? I have a family member like that. Every phone call asks how I'm doing, then before I can say fine, they say, well I went to the doctor the other day and they said...... I can't even stand to answer the phone any more!

I got irritated by all of the various stuff in signatures (graphics, unrelated fandoms, etc.) several years ago and turned them off, so honestly, I haven't noticed. It does seem odd that you would list all of that, though.

I think I'll put "Perpetual PMS Sufferer" in my signature. That way when I go off on someone they will just say 'oh Bless her heart' and move on since they were warned.
