Yes, I'm crazy...thinking about spring break

We may go to WDW over spring break. Yes, I know it's the most crowded time of the year. I am a serious park veteran...probably at least 40 trips over the years. DH has been 5 or so times. EDS went at 15mos and will be just shy of 3 (hence going then-he'll still be free). YDS will be on his first trip at 8mos. I'm a school psychologist, so I'm tied to school breaks, plus we're hoping to avoid extreme heat.

It is possible we would have up to 4 tag a longs...DH's parents and brother (adult) and my dad. My dad is dependent upon whether or not my grandmother wants to come. If she does, he's not coming so that she won't come. Sounds horrible, but she's in her mid-80s and came with us on our last trip, and we felt like she was literally going to kill herself walking around and everything. Lots of background, serious physical limitations and won't use a scooter, etc.

My preference would be to fly, but rates are outrageous, so we would likely drive. It's probably 10 hours with all adults, so I'm not sure how long it will be with the boys. I'm definitely nervous about driving that far with the 8 month old. The oldest will probably stay fairly entertained with movies.

Any thoughts or advice? Feel free to tell me I'm nuts.

Since you know what to expect crowd wise, I don't think your nuts. Hey, it's a time that works for you and in my opinion, crowded Disney is better than no Disney at all, but not all would agree though lol. You've got plenty of experience in how you like touring the parks and your kids aren't first timer's, so in my opinion, you'll be fine. We are planning on heading down in March as of right now, but it's not set in stone. My MIL and my nephews might come along with us and they will be first timers. I'm not sure how things will go and I'm going to stride to make things as easy as possible, so we will see how things turn out Stick to what you know. You already know its going to be crowded, you know what to expect, so I think that you will do fine.

If you got a bunch of Adults to swap driving duties, it should not be too bad. But, a youngsters can complicate things with all the extra stops.

I've done the drive from Cleveland with 2 others and we made it to Daytona in 15hrs. and we took a nap and drove over to WDW at 9am.

Also, I've done spring break trips a few times and I always avoid the Parks with Extra morning hours, but I do go the park that have extra evening hours for the first half of the day.

I also recommend getting an electric cart from a rental place (not Disney) it costs half as much for a full week. It keeps the older members of the party going and the Kids can rid along if the don't want to be in a stroller.

You are definitely NOT nuts (or I would be too ) In fact, I gotta get my ticker done tonight!

Seriously, though. March at Disney is absolutely wonderful--the weather is perfect for touring a park in the morning and swimming in the afternoon. Yes, it's crowded, but not (imo) unbearable.

I think the only thing you must keep in mind is that it's more important to get up early than it is at other, less crowded times.

Have a wonderful vacation!
