Vacation ideas - The DIS Discussion Forums

My husband and I booked a Vegas vacation for the end of Feb. I am now pregnant and Vegas does not sound like fun anymore, so we are looking for some vacation ideas. We want to go somewhere ocean front, somewhere that will be warm the last week of Feb and somewhere with enough low key things to do to keep us busy for about 5 days. Thanks for your help!
Also, we do not have passports so it would have to be a place that we could fly to without one.

My suggestion, fly into Miami, rent a car, and leisurely work my way down to Key West.

I was thinking Key West too! We flew to Orlando and drove down in October. Nice, but we'll fly all the way from now on.

I would like to think that I'd spend less then 3000. We are only going for 4 nights, but we have a little more if necessary

I wouldn't go to Hawaii for 4 nights from Chicago. It will take you that long to get over the jet lag.

I would! Besides, it's only 4 hours. You leave Chicago at 10am and get to Honolulu around 2pm. Plenty of time to get to your hotel, check in, have some dinner, relax. Spend the next 4 days exploring the North Shore, Kailua, maybe check out Aulani, do a luau... Leave Honolulu with your choice of leaving in the morning and arriving Chicago around 10pm or leave in the evening and sleep on the plane and arrive Chicago the next morning.

Would I do it? Done it!
Would I do it again? Heck ya!

BTW did it with DW, DD15, DD11... nobody had jet lag issues.

Have you considered a trip to Boston? There are so many aspects the city offers and it is definitely more of a low key option than Vegas! Between the shopping, dining, and attractions you would easily be able to have an awesome 5 day stay here! Boston also has the waterfront appeal that you were looking for and there are fabulous restaurants you can dine at with a great view! Hope this helps with your decision!

OP was looking for somewhere warm the last week of February and Boston doesn't fit that bill! I live just north of Boston and most likely there will still be snow on the ground.

OP here's another vote for the Keys. We were there in January one year and although they were experiencing a cold snap for them, we were very comfortable walking around in shorts and t-shirts.
