Concierge deposit question

I am in the very beginnings of planning a cruise for 2014 or 2015. I am considering concierge. I know the deposit it nonreturnable but was wondering if its transferable? If you had to cancel can you transfer the funds to another cruise?

My understanding is that currently you can move the deposit ONCE. And they are getting sticky about that.

You would think that they would be more flexible with concierge guests.

You used to be able to book onboard and get the OBC and 10% discount, but then they took the savings away.

They would even book you a dummy date onboard knowing that you were waiting on another date to open so you could swap the reservation......

Onboard during my 5/2012 cruise I booked a dummy date and later moved that to a 12/2013 date concierge level.I lost the discount, but only needed a 10% deposit and the previous deposit was credited.
Later, I then moved that to 5/2014 concierge level, no additional deposit needed. HTH!

When the 2014 dates were released, we booked a suite. Before doing so, I called and asked the same question. The person who I spoke to checked with her supervisor and said it could be changed without penalty. Also said the new date didn't have to be the same category, it could be downgraded if needed. (I knew this was the case a few years ago, as my SIL did that, but didn't now if it was still the same.)

Now that is what I was told when I called - you may call and get a different answer!

You can transfer it but it is non refundable if you cancel. I have two currently booked and I asked each time. Good luck.

I just moved a concierge date for the third time. I dont think they are getting fussy about moves yet. The day they do, I will no longer book concierge in advance and probably just move to another line. We will be trying Norwegians suite perks on their new Breakaway this June, and rates were comparable and, gasp, the deposit is refundable until final payment.

That's been my experience too. The OB Concierge booking that I'm using for our upcoming EBTA cruise was booked originally in summer of 2009 and has been moved around at least 3 times. I have one more from 2011 that I just recently moved for the second time to a 2014 date. I've never had any issue moving them. Like AlexandNessa, the day they start limiting transfers will be the day I no longer book concierge in advance. I'm almost already at that point due to the large number port suite upgrades.

I orginally booked for February of this year and then changed it to May 12th with no problem. I then decided to change it to May 5th. When I made the change the last time I didn't start by asking if it was okay to move more than once, I just asked to move the date and the CM didn't have a problem doing it.
