My Commute now is glorious. I just started a new job in December and moved to a new state. I now live 3 miles from work. If I add the time I spend at daycare dropping off/picking up it takes me about 30 minutes. But really is only a 8 minute commute. My old commute I lived in RI and worked in Cambridge, MA. Depending on traffic it would take me anywhere from 2-4 hours each way. I would leave my house about 5:30 in the morning and I was lucking if I got home at 7:00 at night. Sometimes if there was snow or a bad accident coming home I wouldn't get home until 9:00 (I got off work at 4). I can't tell you how much I am loving life now. I am so much less crabby and get so much more time with my boys.

13 miles. And I have to be at work at 3 a.m. How long it takes depends:

Best case 15 minutes.

The last 5 blocks before work have a traffic light at every block, if I miss them all, add 7 minutes.

I live in California, where most freeway road work is done from 10 pm to 5 am, and with the Federal Stimulus program funding tons of projects here. One morning I had to go 6 miles out of my way to the first off ramp open, that added 20 minutes to my commute

I drive 17 miles one way. Going to work, 25 minutes (lot of stop signs 10 before the freeway, getting on the freeway--75 the last 7 miles IF I get on the freeway at 6:59 am. If I get on at 7:01, seems everyone else is there too.
The way home is a nightmare right now. Sometimes is 30 minutes, sometimes 45. I'm on a route where they are building an overpass (finally) and they put a stoplight on the freeway. Bonus is, I get to sit on the freeway and watch planes take off and I get to daydream where they are going. It's worth it to work overtime though and leave work after 6 when the traffic has died down.

It is now about 5 minutes. Used to be 30 seconds as my office was .2 of a mile from my house but we moved in the fall.

The office moved I mean, not us.

I don't work............DH works from home.....but once a month he has to go to the main office in WA, so 3 hour flight, 1/2 hour drive to airport, 45 minutes from airport to work.
And once a month to the other office in CA.........1 1/2 hour flight, but only 10 min. from airport to work.

5 miles each way, 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

I changed jobs in July because of the commute, which was 23 miles each way and a commute time of anywhere from 55 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. I had started that job about 10 years ago, when the office was located about 5 miles from home.

I feel like I have a new life now!

Edited to add: I also cut my gas bill drastically, of course

We had a wonderful time, but did have our moments!

Pretty much down to my hips on one side, but nice and perky on the other

If I make all the lights, I can get there in 12 minutes.

Realistically, I can never make all the lights in the morning. So it's just over 15 minutes. And I get to do a job I love when I get there... pretty cool! I'm a high school math teacher.

No commute for me. My husband's is about 5 minutes. My daughter's job currently has her commuting from Los Angeles to the general Las Vegas area but she stays there 4 days. The time depends on how long it takes to get out/into Los Angeles.

25-30 minutes. Not awful but certainly not ideal.

It's going to be about 45 minutes for me. I'm thinking about moving closer when my lease is up.
