Brides ? No flowers ??
My DD is getting married on March 1, 2013. ( not a Disney wedding)
We are down to the final stages, finishing up. While out last week we were discussing flowers and she said she doesn't think that she wants to carry any down the isle, or for the wedding party??? She just said I want a simple arrangement for the front of the chapel. I was like HUH??? I thought that maybe she was over whelmed and told her that we talk about it later and put the flowers on the back burner for today. So I asked her about it today and she said I still think I don't want a bouquet, I don't want anything to take away from my dress, and I really don't see the point... they are just going to die. I ask her if it was a money thing, I have a budget for this, and so far we have stayed on Budget so all good there. She is going for a very simple romantic look, lots of candles, and even with the receptions she did not want flowers, she went again with lots of candles and glass.I am ok with whatever she decides. Anyone else walking without flowers? Do you think anyone will notice? |

What about a single rose that she gives you once you are seated, and you carry out after the ceremony? Maybe even a handkerchief with embroidery... in blue for that 'something blue', maybe lace? That is pretty classy. Its something in her hands that she can hold. I certainly need something to occupy my hands when I walk down the aisle.. my hands will show my nerves!

There are Calla Lily which is a very simply flower that can rest in her arm kinda like she is carrying a baby.
I kinda like the idea of the lace hankie, or maybe a blanket(something she had when she was younger) With you walking her down the aisle and holding hands, sounds kinda like she treasures memories/sentimental. If you had something small that she could hold and carry, something with alot of meaning. I would do that.

I didn't walk with flowers, just didn't want them. My Pictures turned out great and no one said anything. I didn't miss them at all.

Our daughter was married at Disney and although she did have flowers, she kept them to a bare minimum. A small bouquet for the bride and bridesmaids and then at the reception, she had floating candles with rose pedals under them. We used the bouquets at the reception for the head table and a few gerber daisies around the cake table. Simple, simple, simple. Looked beautiful !

I love the idea of a handkerchief or a small blanket. Even a small teddy bear would be cute something she had as a kid. I absolutely love the pinwheel idea as well as the feathers or single flower. I am also very small but I wanted something very quirky and extravagant. Here are some pictures of me with my flowers.

I know you said that it is not the reason but traditionally, the Groom's family pays for the brides bouquet, corsages and boutonnieres.

I didn't use flowers either just to save on cost. I purchased a brooch bouquet online. It is beautiful. They can make them in any colour you want. We are from Canada and having a reception at home so I can use it again.
I am only getting real flower boutinerres and corsages. My bridesmaids even have brooch bouquets only on a smaller scale. My flower girl is carrying a wand (like a princess). I am also using a lot of candles to save on cost. My wedding is next weekend so hopefully it turns out to be beautiful. Good luck on the flower dilemma! |
