Any news on Fastpass + starting soon?

We are hoping to head down at the end of Apri and have been following the Fastpass+ threads, but I haven't seen any in a while and wondered anyone knows when things will be implemented or if they are taking a break from testing?

This question is the DISboards equivalent of "are we there yet?"

Seriously. I don't know how you haven't seen a Fastpass + thread in a while when it seems to me like I don't go more than a couple days without seeing a new one.

I wish they'd either hurry up about it so ya'll can master it and tell me what I need to know or let us know it will be awhile so I can stop worrying about it!

They are still testing. When we checked in Friday morning, neither mine nor my DH's room key worked. When I took them back to the desk, I was told that it was because we had been given "MagicPass," which confused me because I thought it was called something else.

Anyway, I had added my two adult sons to the room at check-in. I never put them on reservations because I never know if they will be coming or not. When I added the extra people, the system apparently took us off "MagicPass." Both of my sons' keys were working fine.

They couldn't add anyone else to what they were referring to as MagicPass, so they took us off. When we got back from MK that day, our keys worked, but neither of our sons' was.

Back up to the desk and a supervisor had to get involved since we had originally been put on "MagicPass." I guess we were the first to turn it down, which we wouldn't have if we were alone. It had the system all confused.

In the end, they gave us fastpasses to use for the next two days. Not electronic, they gave us paper tickets that we could use on any ride that already had fastpass.

It was a great deal considering that I was not even slightly annoyed about the key card issues. I was happy about the whole thing and hoping for inside info every time I went to the desk.

Just glance at the new threads in this forum every day. One morning you'll wake up and see 20 of them instead of the usual 1 or 2.

Right now the entire MagicBand, FastPass Plus, RFID Chips, and everything else related to NextGen is in a state of flux and nobody will be able to give a definite answer to anything related to them until at least a few months after everything is rolled out.

CF- Can you elaborate on what you mean by flux?

Thanks!

Don't think CF means anything in particular with the term "flux."

The whole thing has been in "flux" since it was announced, re-announced, re-announced and re-announced.

RFID "touch points" (balls) are being installed (or are already installed) at the park gates and at FP locations.

All Magic Your Way tickets are issued to guests in plastic RFID form.
All other "paper/Tyvek" MYW tickets can now be transferred (at no charge) to the same kind of plastic RFID tickets.

As far as "coming soon" speculation:
AP's are hinted to be coming available on MagicBands before long.
Other MagicBands may soon be issued to guests at selected resorts.

FP+ is still an unknown quantity, and it looks to be so complex I'm
really worried that the WDW computer system won't be able to handle it smoothly.

If Disney execs intend to put that unwieldy system on-line,
they better be ready with a over-reaching manual "fix."
Likely one reason we haven't seen more word on FP+ implementation
or even very much additional testing.
(And, yes, that's MY "speculation.")

.
