Son & DIL married - Name change of reservation?
When we booked the cruise it was under her maiden name. She has since changed her name on all her papers and will be getting a passport with her married name. Is it a simple phone call to DCL or TA to change name?
TIA/ |

It is simple. If you are within 30 days then there may be a name change fee, but other than that it is simple. Call your TA.

Are you flying? I was advised to wait and change my passport until we get back from the trip as everything, including plane tickets are in my maiden name and apparently they can not change the name with the airlines.

Son and DIL will be driving. The cruise was booked a long time ago. They were married in September. She has already changed her license, SS# and is going for her passport.
I know I asked - I thought I was also told a fee for changing name - which is crazy otherwise just bring marriage certificate or a copy? I told her to call DCL and/or the TA to double check. I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has done it. |

I always thought "name change" meant a different person was going in someone's place. In this case it would be a name correction (which you could prove with the marriage license). That would be terrible if they charged for someone to update their last name. I hope DCL isn't that money hungry....

When I had a name change (divorce), I was told by my airline to bring a copy of my marriage license with me showing to 2 names. My ID still had my married name, but I booked the flight with my maiden as everything was supposed to be squared away by my travel time. I had no issues what so ever.
Call & have them notate the reservation, and bring a copy of the marriage license, just in case, regardless. |

Do you know if she kept her maiden name, hyphenated? Like smith-jones? This is a lot easier with switching things over, in my personal experience. If not, bringing their marriage certificate wouldn't hurt!

My DH and I booked a cruise before we were married using my maiden name and forgot about it for a bit. I then changed my name and had an new passport and driver's license. When we realized the cruise was under my maiden name, we simply called and informed them we got married and my name was changed. It was not an issue at all and we got a "congratulations on your wedding, is it safe to assume your new last name is now the same last name as the other passenger in your party and spelled the same way?" They did not require I sent them any paperwork or anything and it was a non issue when we check-in.
