I'm in too! I love to read - it's finding the time to sit down and do it that I struggle with.

I'm keeping my goal low: 24. Only 2 books a month. I think I can handle that!

Me too. I'm in...12 books is my goal. I would like to read the two I have here now (Lone Wolf and The 12 Tribes of Hattie) and then I also wanted to read Cloud Atlas, Gone Girl, The Light Between Oceans and Rush Home Road. Defending Jacob sounds good too. Was hoping to be able to read Martin's Winds of Winter, but them are pipe dreams

I'm in! I'll commit to 12, since I'm starting classes and won't have as much time to read for fun. I can catch up in the summer.

I just received a book I wanted for Christmas and that will be my first.

1. Under the Dome by Stephen King

Count me in! I'll say 100. I read a lot, and way too fast! I have a lot I am looking forward to - The Orchardist, Honolulu, The Pull of the Moon, Galway Bay, Wildflower Hill ... The list goes on and on!

I'm in! I am going to set my goal for 12, 1 book a month. I would LOVE to read more but when I'm not at school, I'm at work. I also just purchased The 2013 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. I'll probably count that since I read it cover to cover!

I'm in! I'm setting my goal for 50.
Last year I didn't start until March or April and tried for 50 but only got into the 30s. This year I want to try for 50 again!

1. The Forgotten Garden -Kate Morton (great read!)
2. Bright Lights, Big A$$ -Jen Lancaster (LOL funny!)
3. The Pilot's Wife -Anita Shreve
4. The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison

I would love to join as well. I think I will make my goal 25 books. I am most excited about reading 11/22/63 since so many people recommended it here on this board.

I have a quick question. Does the book we are reading right now count or is it books started and completed in 2013?

Join Goodreads. It's a good (and easy) way to keep track of what you've read.

I'm in! This year my goal was 75 and I fell far short, only read 27. We had a lot of unexpected drama in our lives this year, which I hope has permanently abated, but I think I'll lower the goal to 50.

Thanks for all the responses so far! I'm keeping track of everyone's goal in the first post.

My hats to all of you that can read at least a book a week! And to the two that posted 100 books as a goal??

I have 54 books on my current to-read list. How I'd love to be able to read at least 50 of them in 2013 (because they all sound FANTASTIC... which is why they're on my list in the first place, lol), but I'm afraid of setting a goal that is unrealistic for me....

Yup, have this one on my list too!! Just bought it for my Nook the other day!

For those of you that need help tracking the books you've read, sign up on Goodreads.com. You can easily keep a running "to-read" list (whenever one of you recommends one that sparks my interest, I immediately open that site and add the book, and when you finish each book, you move it to your "read" list which also records for you the date you finished it. It's a really simple way to keep record of what you want to read, what you've already read and when you've read it.

If you finish it in 2013, then it counts as a 2013 book! That's my rule and I'm sticking with it!

Is that a goal, low-key? And is it 6, 8, or in the middle 7?

Count me in! My goal is 52 books, one each week. I may have an unfair advantage as I'm retired and my DDs take such good care of most of household chores, I probably have more time to read than most people on this board.

I got five hardback books for Christmas and have already read three of them (but I know they don't count and there's no way I could have held them for January 1 anyway!)

I finished A Christmas Garland by Anne Perry, The Confession by Charles Todd, and Bottom of the 33rd by Dan Barry. Tomorrow I'll start reading Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly. My taste runs to mysteries, but I always welcome recommendations.

Off now to sign up on Goodreads.
