Oh, I was looking at Gone Girl a few days ago! Did you like it?

A young couple have one night together and conceive a child. They get married, and change their life course. 9 years later they are reevaluating the decision to get married. Some other family dynamics are involved also.

Quick easy read, some might call it a cheesy romance. I liked that it was a light read, and a well written story.

Free kindle book.
This sounds like something I would read, thanks for the review! B&N has it for Nook at $3.99, and Amazon has it on Kindle for $2.99. Those are the prices listed today, anyway. Always subject to change!

Any suggestions for zombie related books? I'm waiting on a Walking Dead volume from the library if that offers any insight.

Have you read "The Passage" by Justin Cronin? Not zombies, but close.

Count me in. My goal is 30 books. This might be down for me, but I want to spend more time with my daughter, so I don't want to read as much taking time away from her, so this leaves me with after bed time.

I am really looking forward to steadying "Scarlet" (follow-op to Cinder) and the third in the Divergent series.also am ready to start "Promised", third in the Birth Marked series.

Just finished #1- Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult and OMG it was painful to finish. The wolf stuff was beyond ridiculous and her characters are so self centered and all 'wha wha, poor me, I was so wronged'. Blech! Now on to the book DH got me for Xmas- The 12 Tribes of Hattie.

Excellent book! Did you read the prequel/sequel "The Twelve" that just came out? That was a little hard to get into, since I read The Passage two years ago, but worth it.

I agree. Sometimes I like Jodi Picoult, sometimes I don't.

4. Considering Kate, NR
5. The MacGregors - Daniel/Ian, NR
6. The Double Game (can't count this one, returned it before I finished)
7. Cold Days - Jim Butcher
8. The MacGregors - Serena/Caine
9. Notorious Nineteen, Janet Evanovich
10. one more Nora Roberts book (sorry, don't remember the title)
11. The MacGregors, Alan/Grant - NR
12. The Husband List, Janet Evanovich
13. Kinsey & Me, Sue Grafton (well, most of it, anyway)
14. Fear the Worst - Linwood Barclay
15. The Accident - Linwood Barclay
16. Divergent - Veronica Roth
17. Trust Your Eyes - Linwood Barclay
18. Suspect - Robert Crais (excellent!!!)
19. No Time for Goodbye - Linwood Barclay
20. Too Close to Home - Linwood Barclay

My DH is into zombie books. He recommends the trilogy: 'As the World Dies' by Rhinnon Frater. My DH liked all 3 books, and said they were quick reads.

When I looked at my final lists, I was astounded to see that I had rated 50 books and wanted to read 50 books in every category! I swear I hadn't been counting, it just ended up that way. I was too tired to try to figure it out last night, but I want to print out a list of my "want to reads" to take to the bookstore today.

Yes, when I joined Goodreads and started making my list -- thats when I noticed P.D James' books. In fact, had to come back to the board group to amend my goal number after visiting Goodreads.

Book #1: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (non-fiction)

Review: I give this book 5 stars! I had been looking forward to reading this book, due to the reviews given to it by DIS members. However, for one reason or another, I never got around to it. Luckily, my book club members voted on it, so I had my opportunity.

This is the story of World War II prisoner of war, Louie Zamperini. After crashing in the Pacific, he and 2 other men float on life rafts until they are captured by the Japanese.

I was afraid that this would be an emotionally difficult book to read, but it really wasn't. It was uplifting, and by the end of the book I felt really good about it. Laura Hillenbrand has a way of writing non-fiction, and making it read like fiction. This was a book that I didn't want to put down. I highly recommend this book!

(Is this the kind of review that is wanted here?)
I loved this book! My father was in WWII but he never talked about it while I was growing up. I read 2 books about WWII last year. Both of them taught me many things I had no idea about the war and helped me understand just how horrific it was.

Goal = 75

#3 Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry

The second book of the Giver Trilogy. Young adult dystopian genre

I liked it. I wanted to continue the trilogy to see what happened to the characters in the Giver however this book does not deal with them at all.

This book focuses on a girl who loses her mother and what happens to her in this society and some of the realizations she comes to about her society.

I borrowed it from the NC Digital library.

First book of the year completed

Goal 30

#1 Unspoken by Lisa Jackson
Genre: Romance Suspense/Crime Thriller

This was another good book by Lisa.
Had me guessing til the very end.
Shelby Cole hasn't been back home since Ross McCallum was sentenced to jail for murder and she never looked back at the man she once loved, Nevada Smith. But with a prior witness admitting he gave false information, Ross McCallum has been released vowing to extract revenge on all who put him in jail. Shelby mysteriously receives a picture drawing her back to the sleepy town of Bad Luck, Texas and into the arms of Nevada but someone's watching and big secrets must be uncovered.

Hope this works as a review.
