Age for Palo

I am cruising with my 17-year old daughter to celebrate her high school graduation. She will turn 18 one month after our cruise. Does anyone know if there is any flexibility with the age limits for Palo?

Yes, you must be 18.

Yes they know exactly how old everyone is. No they will not book them into the restaurant if they are not 18. No exceptions.

Palo is very strict about the age requirement.

This is the reason my son who turns 18 the August after he graduates from HS wants to do his graduation cruise after his freshman year in college!

The age limit is 18, exceptions are not made - guests must have passed their 18th birthday. If it's learned your daughter is 17 she will be asked to leave the restaurant (I saw that done once - they do the asking discreetly, but the father made a bit of a scene so it was obvious what was going on.)

How did she get in there in the first place? They have the guests information on file.

From what I could tell, the parents booked the reservation. Mom didn't show up and teenager walked in with Dad. They were discreetly waylaid and that's when Dad protested. Daughter left, Mom came up, Mom filled up a plate at the buffet and left with it. Dad stayed by himself. So I think Daughter got her food anyway.

Only the lead name is on the reservation. But they will take a look at all the names on the room to see if any are underage. Similar to PP comment about them requesting underage to leave discretely... There was a table that I could see that had three people, appeared to be mother, father, and child in the late teen age. The head server went to the table and indicated that the underage son was not allowed. As it turned out, the boy was their son, but in a different cabin, and was old enough. They had another son (underaged) who was in their cabin, and that was who the head server thought the boy was. All was very discreet and my wife had no idea any of it happened (her back was to them). As a good will gesture, I think the head server offered some drinks for them. All was very pleasant because both sides ultimately understood the confusion, and all were polite.

The issue is not an "under 18" getting the food; that happens all the time with families staying in the Walt and Roy suites. The issue is that this is an adult only venue and DCL defines an adult as one who has attained at least their 18th birthday. And yes, they are totally strict.

That's what I suspected...something along those lines.

Sounds like that didn't work out so well for them...wonder what their plan was? Mom and daughter would swap places? Daughter got brunch only??
