Birthday Cake

Ok... True or False. You are provided a small birthday cake at dinner on your birthday (on the Magic), at no cost.

BUT you can purchase a larger cake, if you're so inclined? My son will turn 6 on the cruise, and I just want to make sure. tIA.

False. You are provided a little mouse dish on your birthday for free. If you want a birthday cake you can order one for a fee.

Be sure to let you head waiter know you want to celebrate a birthday even if it is on your reservation. They don't always get the message

This is what it used to be, it was large enough to serve 4-6 people

Now is just an individual chocolate mousse dessert.

And the individual dessert, although tasty and nicely presented, is not very exciting looking for a child :-)

And we have 3 children (2 of them my kiddos) in our group with bdays during the cruise, 1 the week before and 1 the week after. I considered ordering a cake for all 5 bdays but I've heard/ read that they are not very tasty. Since both of my kids bdays fall on port days, hope we can find a little cake somewhere in port :-)

We had our kids bday on our reservation and both our server and assistant server had no idea. When we mentioned it the day before they had blank looks on their faces. Then the night of their birthday, service was sooooo slow and I wasn't sure if they were going to do anything so after 2 hours (we had 2nd seating so it was getting late by this time), I let them leave for the edge and vibe. Sure enough as soon as they left, our server came with the little mousse desserts for them. One had a 'happy birthday' chocolate and one had a 'happy anniversary' chocolate. One kid really couldn't care less that she missed it, but I think my son was disappointed after watching lots of birthday singing, etc. during the other nights of our cruise.

Tasty or no, I wish I had something back in our cabin for them and had not relied in the dining room.

Until a few years ago, they had a "standard" birthday cake. This was replaced by the mousse dessert. Now, to get a full cake, you must purchase it. However, there are individual servings of cake all over the ship (cake of the day fro room service, etc.)

Cake of the day! Great idea :-). I will try to find a cute topper for each of the kids to make it "theirs". My kids have no idea about the cruise and DS keeps telling me he wants a Titantic cake, lol. He's fascinated with the Titantic and thinks I can make it. This is his 7 th bday and I've made all his cakes. Don't think I would be able to pull off a Titantic cake!

Mousse...not mouse. Mickey would never let them serve mouse.

Just teasing...couldn't resist.

Cute!! That had me cracking up!

I'm glad to find this thread, our daughter's birthday is one week after the cruise, so we're just considering the whole trip her birthday. We've been digging up information on cakes as well.

I might bring a fun topper for my mom (no candles, right?) on her birthday. Find a random lemon bar instead of cake. I had never thought of that. Thanks!

I'm just glad you cleared it up! I read that and only took away "mouse"--didn't catch the typo--and though what a weird reply!!
