Castaway Cay in January
Visiting Castaway Cay in a few weeks and wondering if anyone has found the weather good recently at Castaway Cay (for swimming) or previously in January?
A little disappointed to see that people are saying 'no'... I'm from Canada, so our tolerance is a little better than most... But... thoughts?

I went in January 2011 and the weather was great. The water was warm enough for us to swim in and we are from St. Louis.

We were there last January and the weather was great. In the 80's and sunny. It was very windy but everyone was swimming. I am from MN so even if it was 70 we would have been happy!
![]() You definitely can have great weather in Jan or people have reported sitting wrapped in a blanket on shore- it just depends. I always say I'd rather take a bad day at Castaway over a good 'winter' day here in MN ![]() Have a great cruise! |

As a native Floridian, anything below 70 is "cold" to us. The water was packed during my cruise last January, and I found it glacier cold. I could only deduce that those folks were from up north. I'm going again at the end of this January, and am preparing myself not to be swimming at the beach again.

. It really is a northern/southern thing-- freezing while swimming is just not something that we enjoy. It's just as easy to wait a few weeks for warmer water. Others up north may not see it that way, but that's our perspective.ETA: For perspective, I couldn't stand the "heated" pool at a WDW resort early March this year. I got in and got right out. Heated? Not hardly!!! Of course, my kids swam until their teeth chattered so much they couldn't talk

We were on the 1/8/11 Magic cruise and it was in the high 50s air temp when we were at CC. First time DH would not let the kids get in the water after several stops there in December & January. I only saw 3 people in the water all day when we were there. No kids were on Pelican Plunge at all. We wore sweatshirts because of the wind and cool temp.

We were just on a 4-day cruise in early December and the weather was warm but the water was cold! I'm also from Florida, so I'm probably a wimp. There were plenty of people - especially kids - swimming, but not as many as in spring through fall. We've been there in the summer when it has rained all day and we still had fun though so don't worry. The island is awesome no matter what!

We're from Canada too. Its too cold for me, but I am absolutely sure my kids and hubby will be one of the ones in the water having an awesome time. Im happy for them. Hubby was afraid it would be too cold
