Dinner attire for kids
Will be doing our first cruise April 8th! How do the kids normally dress for dinner? I have a 8 year old son and 7 year old daughter. My daughter is not an issue, but for boys do they wear short or pants? Thanks!!

Nice shorts are very acceptable especially for younger kids. If that's what you have for your child, don't worry yourself that he won't fit in.

My boys 11 & 8 wore khaki's and polo shirts on the cruise casual nights. On formal and semi-formal they wore dress pants, shirt & tie.
They would go back to the room right after dinner to change before they headed off to their clubs.

We alway subscribe to the no shorts for boys no matter the age. I pack two pairs of khakis (one light and one dark) and we use them with polos and dress shirts. Even when my oldest was 18 months we did this- we just went back to the room to change back into play clothes after dinner for everyone.

Formal night the kids dress up in dresses and suit that we already had. Made for great pictures. Pants and collared shirt rest of the time. We may have let them be more casual the night we knew we were letting them leave early with the CM to go to the club/lab. Everyone dressed up for pirate night. Again great pictures. Used costumes and toys the we had available. Some people cut up old pants and shirts added eye patch.

This might be a stupid question, but for pirate night do you dress in normal clothes (khaki's/polo's) for dinner and then change into your pirate gear after dinner? My first cruise coming up April 8th as well!
