Attn: cooks - help!

I bought a bean soup mix that came with a bouquet garni. I am making the soup now, and when the directions said to add the bouquet, I opened it and dumped the contents into the soup. Then I read that you are supposed to remove the bouquet before serving. Oops! I guess I was supposed to leave the herbs in the bag. Did I ruin the soup, or will it be OK?

Would love to be able to sit on the couch for a few days, get a good book, and do NOTHING!

No, you did not ruin it. Bouquet Garni is traditionally made with herbs that are on a stem. They are wrapped up so that when you eat the dish you don't have to pick out the stems/twigs.

Before you serve, if you can find the pieces just pick them out like you would do with a bay leaf.

Thank you! None of the pieces looked large. It looked like a small bag of herbs! I see some photos online of twigs with long stems, but this didn't look like that. I will look out for large pieces. The DIS to the rescue again!

Dunno what kind of soup or bouquet it is/was but if everything was smallish - be on the lookout for cloves, whole peppercorns, half a bay leaf, that sort of thing, and yank them. They're not that pleasant to come across unexpectedly, but they won't hurt the soup, nope.

The soup came out well! It tasted fine and I never saw any large chunks
