Pricing ?
Just trying to clear up some confusion I have. When cruising with children are their fares different based on their ages? For example, is it cheaper for a 2 year old vs. a 15 year old? If so, what are the age brackets for the different rates?

I'm not for certain of the age brackets but price does increases as their age increases. I think the fare for my 13 YO is $50 more than my 6YO on a 7 night
If there are not 2 adults in the cabin, the oldest will pay the same rate as the adult. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Try doing a dummy quote and see if the price changes when you redo the quote with a different age. It should show you the breakdown of each fare.

Yes. Children under 3 pay 1/2 of the 6-12 cruise fare rate + one set of port charges. People over 12 pay a higher 3rd/4th person rate--depending on the dates and category, this can be as little as $25 or as much as a couple hundred.

Beings as I'm a bit slow on things, can you be a little more specific? For example, if the adult fare for a cruise (1st 2 people in the room) was $500 and port charges are $50, the 6-12 age would be ______, 3 through 5 would be________, under 3 would be _______. I know that fare isn't a real one, just, please, use it as an example. Thanks.

Sorry, 3-12 is the same fare.
No, one can't fill in your example because it varies with the dates and category selected. Example....May 5, 2014 4 night cruise... 2 adults = $1164 2 adults + 1 year old = $1329 2 adults + 5 year old = $1507 2 adults + 11 year old = $1507 2 adults = 13 year old = $1531 I don't have the info I need to break out port charges from cruise fare. |

The difference between over 12 and 3-12 is typically a small amount. I've seen it as low as $21 and as high as $200, but normally it is $100 or less. Under 3 pays 1/2 of the CRUISE FARE portion of the ticket that 3-12 pay, but pays a full share of port fees. It's the same thing as the onboard booking discount--only the cruise fare portion of the ticket is discounted, the port taxes/government fees remain the same. OK, this is a totally FAKE example. Say the first 2 adults are $1000 + $50 port taxes.....and third passenger 3-12 is $500 2 adults (or first 2 any age) pay $2100 ($1000 + $1000+ $50 + $50 2 adults + infant would pay $2100 + $250 + $50. $250 is 1/2 of 3rd person fee. 2 adults + 10 year old would pay $2100 + $500 + 50 2 adults + 13 year old would pay $2100 + $500 + $50 + over 13 upcharge of small amount. No problem....be aware, sometimes the 3rd person charge is the same regardless of category, other times it increases as the category goes up.
And....there is another upcharge on concierge bookings. I knew how it worked many years ago, but I have no current info. |
