silly pillowcase question
For those of you who have done the autograph pillowcase thing... does you child use it on their pillow at home? Does the sharpie come off on their face? In the wash? Thanks for humoring me!

My children used them for a while then the signatures started to bleed. They didn't come off on anything. I guess it was just skin oil that would cause them to start to look fuzzy. We used a sharpie. I don't know if a fabric marker would be better or worse.
If you want other options, consider a photo matt or a large wooden letter. My children have done both. On the wooden letters, they are available at Michaels or A.C. Moores, they are white and roughly 9 inches high. My kids did their initials and now have them hanging on their walls. It turned out really cool.

How do you get your pillow case with the signature?

You take the pillowcase and markers to Guest Services (once onboard) and fill out a request for signatures. It will be returned to your room at the end of the cruise.

My girls have slept on them, but not as their every day pillowcase. We used fabric markers so they will wash and not wear off.
On our last cruise I use canvas bags. ![]() 2012-08-19 11.25.57 by peachygreen2010, on Flickr I love how those turned out. I'm not sure what I am going to do this time if anything. |

Here is a picture of the letters. These 2 were just done on our last trip to Disney World.
![]() The letters are 9 inches high and 6 inches wide. Here is our photo matt. This particular one was done on the Dream last year. ![]() I hope this helps.

We just use Sharpies for the letters and matt.

We had them sign pillow cases for throw pillows and use them as extras instead of every day pillows.

If you use fabric markers, follow the instructions on the marker package--many require a hot iron to set the color. Some need steam, some a dry iron. Some have the alternative possibility of tossing into a hot dryer instead of hot iron.
If you set the ink according to the instructions, there should be no issue of fading or bleeding. Permanent sharpies will eventually fade, but it takes a long while. |

I was going to post exactly what kcashner said!
We have never had any problems with bleeding or fading. I used crayola fabric markers and heat set in the dryer per the manufacturer's directions as soon as I got home and before I washed them. I would also recommend washing the pillowcases first to remove any sizing that is used when they are manufactured. Our pillow cases are a year old! |
