Disney by Lynx Bus?

Hi All,

Firstly I'm new to this site but I have read good things about it!

I've booked and planned a trip to Orlando next April with a friend.
We will be staying on I-Drive and were hoping to spend a few days at the Disney Parks.
We can't drive so was looking for some transport advice.

I've read on Trip Advisor that the buses can be the cheapest way to get around. They state that "From elsewhere in the International Drive resort area, catch bus 8 to Sea Harbor Drive, and transfer there to bus 50 to WDW T&T Centre"
As we won't have any children with us we're not fussed about using public transport to save a few $

Is this information still correct?

Many thanks in advance
Jim

You might want to try some "what if?" scenarios at http://www.golynx.com

Enter the address of your hotel and your destination (such as Magic Kingdom Park). Specify the date and approximate time you want to travel. Click the Get Directions button.

You'll discover that it's not impossible to rely on Lynx, but the schedule is infrequent and connections are awkward. It's not a simple matter of jumping on a Lynx bus when you want to go to a Disney park and jumping on another Lynx bus when you want to go back to your hotel.

I've looked into Lynx, and my opinion is that it's too much trouble and takes much too long. When I stay off-site, I rely on a rental car (which also eliminates the expensive taxi fare between the airport and the hotel). When I stay on-site, I'm willing to rely on Disney's Magical Express (airport transportation) and WDW Transportation (buses, monorails, and boats) with WDW.

Have you considered staying in a hotel that has Disney World shuttle service? That might be a better option.
P.S. I wouldn't consider driving on the "wrong side of the rode" either!!

Trust the other posters. WDW is huge. It takes us 15-20 minutes to get to MK from Animal Kingdom Lodge which is on Disney property. The 50 will get you to the TTC and DTD and you will have to do another transfer.

If you get off at TTC then you will need to take monorail or ferry over to park. If you get dropped of at DTD Marketplace--buses start running around 10-11:00 when they open the shops--you will need to take the bus to the Contemprary, Poly or Grand Floridian and monorail over to MK gate. You can walk from Contemporary but not the other two.

If you are going for rope drop take the bus to TTC..then you have to get back to the Lynx.

Just the thought of doing this gives me a headache. Good luck to you. If it were me I would stay in a Value room on property or at one of the DTD hotels for the days I was doing Disney. If just want to go to MK for one day, I would pay for a taxi.

Thanks for all your posts and information.

The hotel that we will be staying at has a free shuttle service so will probably use a combination of that and a taxi one day.
I know the shuttle won't get me there for rope drop but I'm fine with that.

Thanks
Jim

When exactly in April are you going? April can be very busy at WDW with many schools having their Spring Breaks then. Not getting to the parks for rope drop could be a big problem.

If you are going the first week, you will be at the parks with huge crowds. Any time after that and you should be ok.

Hi,

We are going from the 13th April, I believe that most of the schools should be back by then.

Thanks
Jim

Starting with April 13 the park levels are shown as all 5s and 6s, meaning it will be moderately busy. Not dead, but not crazy either.

Thanks for the info, April was really the first month that I could get off work and sounds like a happy medium for the temperature/crowd levels.
Mostly looking forward to the Universal parks and Epcot.
We'll be taking full advantage of the fast pass and single riders queues whilst at the parks.

Another question about Lynx bus

Hello, I'm very new to this site and am quite pleased with the wealth of information here. I read on mousesavers.com that there is a lynx bus that goes all the way to the TTC. we are staying at an off-site resort which is very close to a stop on the route. Would this be a feasible option on NYE? Are the Lynx buses turned away if MK is full? We are renting a car for part of our stay. TIA
