Need Resort Suggestions!
We are traveling next September.
We are normally a family of 5, so we stay at POR. My oldest son will not be traveling with us this time, so we are suddenly the ever accommodated family of 4! Family consists of DH, DS (15), DS (18 & in wheelchair), and myself. Thanks for your suggestions! |

if not DVC - then my favorite is Pop Century - that says the beds are double (full size) not the queens that most of the moderates now have
the only exception is CBR which still have double beds. now if that is not a problem - Pop is pretty good. nice food court, arcade, nice pools. and it is cheaper than the moderates. not any hills so to me wheelchair friendly. It is probably the flatness of all the WDW resorts. if you are thinking about going deluxe - then would recommend OKW - a studio has 2 queen beds and more room than POR. Now would not consider it wheelchair friendly - too many hills - but that is my opinion. It is probably more like POR than the other resorts. Every room or villa has at least a kitchenette at OKW.

If sticking to Mods, I would give CSR a try, we have enjoyed that resort a lot and it usually has very good bus service. Look at AKL and WL for the cheaper deluxes, I believe everyone should try AKL at least once, what a unique and great atmoshere. With the ages of your DS's, I would stay at resorts with queen beds. You can look into renting DVC points, but I would not recommend a studio EXCEPT at OKW, the others are to tight. Just my 2 bits worth

That would depend on your budget. POR is our fav moderate. We love the mansions. For deluxe resorts, we have stayed at Poly, WL, BC & AKL and love them all for different reasons.
Since your son is in a wheel chair I would say either Poly, being on monorail. And a short walk to TTC to get Epcot monorail would be a good choice. Or BC/YC which is an easy walk to Epcot and about a 20 min walk to DHS or a boat ride away. CR is another option, and the garden wing is a bit less pricy then the tower. Happy planning!

I would vote for CBR or Pop. Pop has a better food court. CBR has quieter areas than Pop and has multiple bus stops.

choices!
Of the moderates..Ive only stayed at FQ and POR...Love them both.
Given your party size now gives you more flexibility..I guess it depends on whats important. If you want to save money- you can now look at the values. If you want to spend about the same, but have a different experience, you now have the other moderates- which are all (along with POR) likely the best values as a combination of price and what you get. Pick a theme you are interested in being immersed in! We prefer FQ due to it's smaller size. As a matter of fact...Our first trip as a family we stayed in a MK facing room at the Poly. Next trip was in a room at the FQ and the wife actually preferred the FQ- not even taking price into the equation (the wife...I'm sane however and preferred the Poly) Realistiaclly- I think she liked that we were able to stay for 7 days for less than 4 days at the poly- and liked the relaxed pace of the trip. If you are looking to splurge a bit- I'd rec the Wilderness Lodge. Great resort, but rooms only sleep 4. I also have a family of 5, so we are now limited. This gives you a chance to enjoy the delu=xe experience for something inbetween your normal expense and the other deluxes. I know a fe wothers have posted some nice deluxe resorts- but if you're going to drop the $ on that- why not on a trip for 5??? AK is really nice- but ALL transportation is via bus and while thats what you get at POR- why not enjoy a bit more convenience for the $$$? |

Thanks for all your input!
I would say we would probably go at least moderate, maybe even splurge for deluxe.I guess I'll do some research on all the resorts and see what theme we'd like, then take it from there.Planning is half the fun for me, so I'll enjoy it!

The Poly is great because of the monorail.
