Weren't those closed loop itineraries? Those don't need distant foreign ports.

It's only if the cruise starts in one US Port (like Los Angeles) and ends in a *different* US Port (like Oahu) that you need to worry about the Distant Foreign Port. So Seattle-Alaska-Victoria-Seattle works (closed loop). Seattle-Vancouver-Anchorage would not. San Diego-Ensenada-Hawaii-San Diego works.

I love this idea. Think I would split it into two trips though.

Love this one.

Since it's a dream cruise, I'd like to order up a 7-night west coast cruise out of LA, with a west coast version of Castaway Cay, with stops wherever in between.

I'll second that! Maybe Disney can buy San Clemente and convert that!

Or Avalon/one of the Catalina islands.

Dream? If money was not a problem:
New York City, Prince Edward island, then back down the Eastern coast (I've never been to North/South Carolina and I think I might like it there, just for a visit), the Western/Eastern Caribbean, Castaway Cay twice, and then back up to NYC.
Dream. Money not being the universal stopper.

You don't need to ask DCL for this. Just do them b2b.

DCL could do a one-way cruise from Ensenada to Honolulu, but it couldn't start in LA with just a stop in Ensenada.

At one point, DCL had the Hawaiian ports lined up for what looked to me like 2 one-ways between Vancouver and Honolulu in Sept. 2013. For whatever reason - DCL canned that idea and instead will reposition to LA and through the Panama Canal to Galveston.

Yes, but we're talking about dream cruises, and taking a bus across the Mexican border to Ensenada would be more of a nightmare.

Dream itineraries are great, but dreaming of something that can't legally happen is a waste of energy.

ETA: Other cruise lines depart from Ensenada and bus their passengers across the border. DCL could, too, although a departure from Vancouver would be MUCH easier.

The Hawaii cruise you are all speaking if actually exists... A friend of mine was on it. To Hawaii from LA. It included a stop in Ensenada.
