365 nights in a 1BR would require the following for January 1 - December 31, 2009:

AKV (Value) - 8990
OKW - 10,311
BWV (St) - 10, 613
SSR - 11,582
AKV (Sav) - 12,694
BWV (Pref), VWL, BCV - 12,847
a little bit complicated by ownership limitations unless you get creative:

Quote:
To encourage purchase for personal use, Club Members may not aggregate Ownership Interests so as to compile more than 4,000 Home Resort Points per DVC Resort or an aggregate of 8,000 Home Resort Vacation Points at all DVC Resorts....
sooo.... if between DH and I say we pick up about 4000pts each resort on 2 resorts... we should be able to stay there year round...
We just have to be creative on the booking... staying only 4 weeks at a time in a resort and swap booking names every resort

Now... let's see how we can afford the cash and MF...

Honestly, when we stay at SSR, we always say how it would make for a great place to live. Get a nice 1br or 2br villa and live in it. its nice and clean and is really nice.

DH and I are also thinking of something similar, our biggest problem is that we prefer 1-bedrooms and the points add up pretty fast. Dh is an early riser (I mean stupid early, 3-4am) and I like my late nights, so studios are difficult.

We seriously considered a condo a few years ago but like others have said, by the time we figured in taxes, property manager for when we aren't there, etc., it seemed clear to us that more DVC was the way to go. We're at 810 points now and plan to add to over 1,000 thus affording us at least 2 months in WDW.

We love being on property, and never tire of it so it's kind of a no brainer for us.

Very similar to us, but we find a way to deal with the "one of us has bad sleeping patterns" at night. Too costly to do this using a 1 bedroom.

We are at 730 points, but hope that The Mouse is kind on our current 300 point contract offer in ROFR. I estimate 1200 to 1300 points as a solid baseline for OKW for how we envision using it.

Hey! There's an app for that! LOL! I use a sleep sound app and eye night shade (with Mickey on it!)!

LOL, that might be an answer. However, we also like having a washer/dryer and a full kitchen. I think we're just going to have to 'get real', a studio would make our points go sooooo much further.

We have over 1300 points and plan on staying over a month between 3 resorts for one of the winter months in a 1 bedroom. This is about 15 years from now. We will see if our plans change but that is the goal. I cannot see staying in anything other than a 1 bedroom for that amount of time.

DVC rooms are not hotel rooms and fall under different rules. There is a stay limit per room, I forget what my guide had told me years back, but I had brought up the question and she assured me that it's not as short as the hotel rooms.
