King size bed.
Not sure what the true answer is, but here goes my dilemma. We want a king bed in our room. I'm 6'4" and barely fit on a double. We are given an ton to request a king during check in, but have never gotten one. On the website under reservation, if I book a handicap room, king size is not an option unless there are only two people. But I call the reservation phone number and say it is a request only at check in. Not sure what my tigons are if any one has had similar situation..

I guess it depends on which resort you're at. You can request a king bed at some resorts...they are a specific catagory, or at least they used to be. And if there are more than two in the room? They won't give you a king room. It's for those with no more than two on the reservation. I have had a king bed at Pop before and I was alone. And then, earlier this month, my friend and I checked into AoA, in a LM room, only to find they had given us a king bed. Ahhh, no. Not sleeping with my friend. We're close but not that close.
At the moderate resorts, the king bed rooms were a catagory that could be requested. Not sure if that is the case anymore. I would actually call Disney to make my reservation if a king bed is that important. My dh is 6'4'' and has no issues with a queen bed, or even a double as long as he gets to use it alone!! The request can be noted on your reservation. |

You can pay extra for a king size bed, no handicap room necessary. We just did this at POFQ in Nov, though because it was our 10 yr anniv disney upgraded us to a king bed for free
![]() It's an option in the room views drop down menu online.

My husband and I stayed at ASMu in August for our anniversary. I called and had it notated on our reservation that we would like a king size bed (I'm 5'11'' and he's 6'...I hate having my toes hang off a double bed). They said it wasn't a guarantee but that they would put it in the computer. When we got there, we had a king size room.

OP - as posted, if you have more than 2 people in your room you can not get a king bed. King bed rooms are a max of 2 people. Depending on your resort, you won't be guaranteed a king bed. Handicap rooms are for handicap people. I would feel absolutely wrong with booking one just to get a king bed. You can head to the deluxe level and get multi room suites with some having king beds in the master, but naturally that cost is going to be more than a value/mod. |

We stayed at All Star Music for our Honeymoon and they said they were putting us in a king room (obviously important for that trip), when we got to the room, we had two double beds. We called the front desk, they gave us another room that was supposed to be a king bed and the same thing happened. This happened about four times before they finally found one (the manager literally went to the room and verified that it had a king bed first) that actually had a king bed in it. Apparently they had recently remodeled some rooms and changes around which ones had king beds and the computer wasn't properly updated.
Obviously the king bed is not a guarantee, but if they say they are putting you in a room with one, you should get one. In our case it turned out to be important that we did, as there were other guests that kept getting a king bed and needed two beds. |

I think you'll be okay though. I'm sure you're used to beds not always meeting your height requirements!

A DVC 1 bedroom would be a guaranteed king bed and a queen sofabed, possibly a twin sofa chair depending on the resort.

We prefer the cheaper resorts since we spend so little time in the room. But normally we push the two beds together, which normally works ok.
