True they are offered, but they will all be taken during the advanced reservations, and won't be avalaible day of.

You have no idea if some will be held back or not. We do not have enough information to know that

True, but that really isn't a fair comparison, because we all still ride in the same plane, or eat at the same restuarant, or play on the same golf corse. This would be equivalent to saying we only allow X seats to be assigned then the day off, we allow those who get to the counter first to pick out the next Y assigned seats. What if you miss the X cutoff then get to the airport for your flight to find out that well, there really were more seats that could be assigned, but they have already been given way because you didn't get here early enough.

The problem is there just isn't enough FPs to go around. They are limited by ride capacity. See my post above.

(The days of riding riding a headliner 5 times in one day without standing in a long line are gone.)
Agreed. However I'm not looking to ride a headliner 5 times in one day without waiting. Each one once and and maybe one or two twice is what I'm wanting. The FP+ system is going to make me chose ONE headliner to have no wait, and all the others (including the repeats) I'm going to have to wait in line. What make matters worse, is that we have kids that can't ride some of them, so the "other" parent will have to wait outside for 45+ minutes keeping the little ones entertained.

The problem is there just simply aren't enough FPs to go around. Period. See my previous post.

You are correct that some could be held back, but the problem is there simply aren't enough FPs to go around, especially if you hold some back for day of.

This post goes into the nitty gritty math that shows why.
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...postcount=1140

If you hold some back, you are going to force people to select attractions like Living with the Land or Nemo, or . . . as their top tier selection at Epcot. I don't see that idea being very popular.

You still don't know demand jusy because you know capacity. You've acknowledged that not everyone picks the same headliner. Currently once fps are gone, they are gone. How is this different from the proposed system? No matter how many are available 60 days beforehand or day of, when they're gone, they are gone and that's too bad if you didn't get one.

True, once they are gone they are gone. However the analysis was as to why advanced FPs and same day FPs can't coexist.

I'll admit that this new system isn't necessarily Bad in general compared to the current system. However it is bad for US. We are the people that are at RD every day. We get a FP right after entering the park, and then another one as soon as possible. Yes I am the FPV that goes back and forth in the park for the first 3-4 hours collecting FPs then meeting up with the family to ride the next attraction in between each FP pull. We are able to typically get 4-7 sets of FPs in any one day (we do go during low season), and are out of the parks by 3 or 4pm having done more than most people do who get to the parks at noon and stay all night. I will lose 3-4 sets of FPs and others (who under the current system may not have gotten any) will each gain 1.

Our bottom line is if it means more line time then we'll definitely be going less. And if we are booking in advance to wait in a 15 minute FP+ line, I'll be even more upset. I know we don't pay what it costs to go to WDW to spend most of the days waiting in lines. I realize some people don't mind, but that's not us.

My thoughts exactly.

I guess I just don't see how you can say that without a doubt. If we want to eat at some place in particular, say Le Cellier, we have to get a limited place. Not everyone gets one. They could hold back a certain number of tables for same day reservations and again, if you don't get one you don't get one. Now disney doesn't hold back tables because then perhaps they won't be guaranteed to fill them. But it doesn't hurt disney's bottom line to hold back fps particularly since most rides don't run at full capacity most of the time.

But it will hurt their bottom line if / when people get irritated becasue they were told that there weren't any more FPs for the headliners to be booked in advance and then they get to the parks and find out that there were in fact more FPs to be had, but they missed out on those too. Or when people are booking their vaction and find out that there aren't any more advanced FP selections for the attractions they want, and decide to postpose their vacation all together not knowing (or not willing to take the chance) that they might be able to get those FPs once they get to the parks.

So let me get this timeline right. 60 days in advance you can check in. Probably 60 days in advance you can book your FP+ spots.

Does anyone else think maybe the final payment on packages might all of a sudden change 45ays .......... to...... I don't know.......... 60?????

Cuz if I log in and the headliners are gone. I'm cancelling and booking something offsite so I have a shot at the "day of" slots.

Gonna say it one more time.. with emphasis.. There is no difference in FP+ rules/window/anything between resort and Non-Resort guests.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Aren't resort guests going to be obligated to "opt in"? I guess I have a vision that it will be easier to opt out if you're not on a MYW package. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Regular FP soon wont exist, you can opt into FP+ or "nothing." Your choice.

I guess I just figured there would be a "phase out" period where resort guests were required to opt in, but off-site was not yet. Maybe not....
