My experience tips and warnings for Galveston cruisers...

We just returned from our Dec 8. Galveston cruise and want ti share our tips and warnings... Regarding transportation... Iused VIP Shuttle Services for our return to Hobby airport and they were the BEST price I found at $85 one way for the 4 of us in a big van (private ride, not shared). I dealt with Juan via email and he responds fast. (I am in no way affiliated with this company, just a satisfied customer).

Also, DO NOT buy jewelry from Mexico (especially Erick's at the Cozumel port mall, they are crooks, proof is on trip advisor and on my credit card). We were dupped when we bought 2 pairs of 22k earrings. I got back to the states and took them to my jeweler who verified that they are plated. He said that Mexico doesn't regulate thier stamping on the earrings. So just cause its stamped doesn't mean anything. If you want to shop for jewelry, do your research first, use reputable sellers (not Ericks, aka. Unique, according the credit card charge).

Also, I sent a package to the Galveston port and I sent it 2 Weeks in advance. When I boarded, I checked with guest services to verify that they received it. I had my delivery confirmation with me. They didn't have anything, so I gave them my tracking #. Luckily they found it 2 days later, but apparently they tried to deliver it on the cruise prior to ours. I had it clearly marked with all the necessary information. So be sure not to send it too early and time it to arrive the week of your cruise.

Lastly, after we disembarked, my family went to Schliterbahn and had an incredible time! The indoor portion is the only part open, and 3 additional rides outside. My 4 yo and 8 yo had a blast on all the rides, my 4 yo wasnt to little cause they have neat tubes that have a bottom for them to sit on and not slip through. They also allow you to take your own food for a picnic, so you can order cookies from room service the night before disembarking to have at the water park.

Just thought i'd share these tid bits of info with you all. Enjoy your cruise!

What address did you use to ship your package to? I'm the FE list-keeper for our upcoming Magic cruise. I live 20 minutes from Galveston but would love to be able to share the address with the folks in the group. TIA!

DCL does not want you taking food off the ship when you get back to port. I would not advise doing that. I know with fruits and vegetables it is a hefty fine if caught. I would guess it is the same with baked goods or anything not factory packaged. They usually have amnesty bins in the terminal where you can drop your food if took things off without knowing the policy before you got to customs.

I saw the signs for fruit and meat, which we had neither of. There were no warnings for baked goods.

I went to the port shopping talk and they gave a list of places to buy from where Disney would guarantee that the jewelry you buy is real. I was on the magic Dec 1.

Just curious...what time did you arrive at the port on embarkation day? Was the boarding process smooth? I read a thread a few weeks ago about how chaotic the boarding was out of Galveston, but I think that might have been an isolated event, and not every week.

If you charged the jewelry, dispute it on your account as fraudulent merchandise.

We were also on the Dec 1 cruise. I thought the boarding process was smooth. We took DCL transfers from Houston Hobby airport and arrived at the port at 10:30 a.m. We were allowed into the terminal to start the check-in process (thought I had read the terminal didn't open until 11 a.m.) Once we finished that, we waited in the terminal, read our Navigators, got photos with Mickey and Minnie. We were boarding group 5, so got on the Magic fairly quickly once boarding started.
