Deciding to upgrade to Concierge... Which floor/room should I choose?

Hi Everyone!

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade from our current category 4A on deck 10 to Concierge with Verandah category 00V.

Which deck should I choose? 11 or 12? Are there any advantages of one versus the other??

Next: room? I'm have a horrible sense of direction when it comes to which side of the ship is best as is pertains to sailing, views, etc.

Here are the available rooms for our sailing:

Deck 11:
11012, 11016

Deck 12:
12516, 12528, 12018, 12022, 12522, 12028

Thank you in advance!!

I guess simply for convenience, I would prefer to be on Deck 12. That whole area of the ship is quiet, so there are not any real concerns about noise. Being on Deck 12 just makes it easier to get to the lounge. Apart from that, not much difference at all. The cabins in the 500's typically face CC if the ship backs in (as usual). Some like that. Others like to see the other side. No big advantage one way or the other.

03/22/14 Fantasy cruise...we are on that one too - deck 12!

You really can't go wrong with any of the rooms. The verandahs on deck 11 are semi enclosed so they won't be as wide open as those on deck 12, so that is one thing to consider if it matters to you. Also, rooms on deck 11 should not have much overhead noise either since there are staterooms above them. We have never had an issue with noise on deck 12 though. I am sure you will be happy with whatever you choose.

I would choose anything on deck 12. I did not care for the semi-enclosed verandah on the deck 11 suite we had in September.

We've stayed on both decks, and liked deck 12 much more. The partially enclosed verandahs on deck 11 make it seem like an echo chamber. We could hear our neighbors, three cabins away, talking in just a normal voice. Any loud noise we could hear from many cabins away. Plus, if you're on deck 12 you're just steps away from the lounge. We hardly used it at all when we stayed on deck 11, but when we were on deck 12 we used it quite a bit.

I am booked on deck 12! I am glad to hear about the verandas, I would not like feeling boxed in as described on deck 11. We are right next to the concierge lounge, so I think that will be nice. This will be our first time cruising concierge.

We have 2 boys, who will be 8 and nearly 4 when we are on the cruise. Are there any benefits to children sailing Concierge? I'm excited for the experience! I haven't told my husband that I upgraded us... I am leaving it as a surprise for when we get there!

It's just me and my mom, but I will say the concierge hosts interact with the kids in such a great way.

We were on deck 11 for our first and will go with 12 on the next one. It wasn't a big deal to walk up the stairs, but for things like getting coffee or snacks, it would be nice to the closer to the lounge.

My 2-year-old enjoyed the lounge. It's great to be able to get snacks, plus they have coloring pages, TV on, and the staff is great with kids. And he got stuff like arcade money and some other little perks during the week. Not to mention the fast boarding process, which was totally worth it (compared to standing in line with a 2 year old).

Another vote for 12, it is just more convenient and the non-enclosed verandah is a big plus.

We had 11012 last September and we loved it. We loved walking out our door and literally walking into the adult area. The semi closed balcony didn't bother us and we really enjoyed it when it was raining as we could still be outside and not get soaked.

I will add the balconies on 11 are about 3 feet deeper.

Here is an exterior photo; http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...A/458bddbe.jpg
