Main dining

First timer here on a Disney cruise. May 10th on the Magic! I hope this isn't a stupid question but I noticed there are 3 different main dining rooms. Are we assigned the same one throughout the cruise or do we rotate?? SO EXCITED!!

You will rotate through the 3 MDRs. When you check in, on your KTTW card will be a series of letters, for example: APLAP, or PLAAP, or something similar to that.

This indicates the order of your rotation: A=Animator's Palatte; P=Parrot Cay; L=Lumiere's. Also on the KTTW card is your table number. You will have the same table number in each MDR. While it may be in a similar location, the actual location within each MDR will be different.

You will have the same servers (and tablemates, if you have them) each night.

Thanks!! And speaking of table mates....There are 3 of us. Me, my daughter and my mom. How do they pair up parties? Will we be at a huge table or just have a few others sharing the table?

There are NEVER any stupid questions on the DISboards!

It's called rotational dining. Here's a link to Disney's website on the Magic's menus...

They always try to match up folks. Couples are with other couples. Folks with children are seated with another family with children of similar ages. Etc..

Each serving team serves a 4 top, a 6 top, and an 8 top. With 3 of you, you could be at any of these. At the larger tables you, most likely, will be seated with others. DCL's uncanny ability to match table mates is awesome!

FYI... I had the same situation as you once (me, DD15 and DM). Our tablemates were grandparents traveling with their 2 teen grandchildren.

The food sounds amazing! Another question (sorry!!!) are the cocktails before and after the meals included or do we have to pay for them?

I am a little nervous about being paired up. Worried about noisy/out of control kids...lol. My daughter is 7 so hopefully if they match up it shouldn't be so bad. By hey! I'm on a Disney cruise! I think I could handle anything

Alcoholic drinks always have a cost.

I would think, if you keep your child under control, any others at the table would get the message that they should behave the same. If it is a problem, all you need to do is talk to your head server about the possibility of changing tables.

Alcoholic drinks are never included. But keep in mind that if you do order one while onboard, there is a 15% tip already included in the cost so don't worry about tipping as you go. You already did!

You can always request to have a table to yourselves. Have your TA (or you can do it if you're handling your own reservation) put the request on your reservation. Do you have first or second seating?

Personally, I don't think it matters at all... no matter what ship I'm on. I think it only matters to folks trying to get a Palo or Remy reservation. Maybe there's a MDR they don't want to miss and another they really don't care for (menu) so they try to match up availability at Palo/Remy with the MDR they don't particularly care for.
